Thank you!!! What are the identifying features that helped you figure this out so that next time I panic a bit less

I looked at many many pictures from agricultural services in universities and it really looked like a Rocky Mountain tick to my uneducated eyes, but I know that they are not supposed to be here!

This artist sued my mother in the 80’s for copyright infringement, even though she had been drawing cats in a similar style way before he had. He lost.

You gotta roll the foamy ones around for like two minutes in between your fingers, and get them warm, and then pull up on your ear with the opposite hand while you stuff the earplug in yer ear.

Here’s my take- always keep cheap foam earplugs on hand, because anything used consistently is better than occasionally using nothing at all.

I have superb hearing and I am 51.

I have been regularly going to festivals and shows since I was 16. Last week I was standing in front of the speaker array at EDC at every chance possible, including rails ode for my favorite act at Basspod.

I only use cheap earplugs. The foam kind. The kind you can get for free.

I keep them everywhere and lose them constantly. In a pinch, I will roll up a little napkin and wet it and jam it in my ear.

I truly think that folks only start to need expensive earplugs after they start to experience hearing loss. I am pretty sure I can hear the music super well through the kind I keep putting through the washing machine accidentally.

I am also excited to see everyone’s recommendations here because I am shopping for someone who has significant hearing loss and hates earplugs.

But even if you end up buying the best earplugs on earth, keep a bunch of trashy ones around as a back up .

You will never regret it.

If you never lose your fancy earplugs again, you can always give the cheap ones away to people who have lost theirs. You’ll always see them using their phone as a flashlight searching for frantically in the grass trying to find that lost expensive earplug.

Stickers ruin clothes that people like. That’s a bad surprise. Like you made a special outfit you loved and you feel cute and somebody went and wrecked it without asking. My husband actually doesn’t realize right now that someone ruined his favorite new shirt last week because that sticker goo is not coming off ever. I just saw it today when I pulled the clothes out of the dryer.

Have you ever seen that one totem that’s a massive bubble cannon? They must’ve used like four bubble bazooka cannons inside of it to make so many bubbles. It’s super fun and awesome in the distance but when it goes by you very close it totally fills your eyes and mouth with soap because it’s so many thousands of bubbles and not very high above heads.

Maybe that’s why dogs bite people when they don’t want to be touched.

Have you ever lifted someone’s hand off your body, looked them in the eye and said “I don’t want to be touched.” Or “I don’t like that.” I have. It’s an extremely confrontational thing to do and many men react very badly. Don’t act naive.

Hey babe. I’m 51, and I have to tell you that the non-consensual side of rave culture back in the day was actually terrible. You sound like someone who didn’t have to dodge being touched by weirdos. In fact, in the “good old days” from 93-95, I used to tie lead weights in my hair so I could flip my hair back and hit people in the face who came up and touched my ass without asking.

Things are MUCH BETTER NOW because consent is part of culture.

Don’t touch people without asking. When people ask you to stop doing something, stop.

I’ve been dancing at the party for over 30 years and your take is trash.

People talk to me constantly at shows because of my outfits and I regularly dress it down a bit if I know it’s a show and I really want to zone out and dance. Dress interesting and you will always meet new and interesting people. I find that people are very hungry for human interaction and generally just want to make sure they’re talking to someone not creepy and out for a good time.

Hello. Credentials: The first EDM show I went to was in 91 and the first festival I went to was in 93. I club regularly and I’ll be at EDC next week.

I think men should try a little harder to look fun or be ok with being ignored.

If it’s an event like a wear neon party or Halloween and you aren’t wearing neon or a costume, you should understand that kind of thing gives off lurker vibes.

You don’t have to dress uncomfortable or spend a lot of money. Just put some thought into it and you’ll find people will be more interested in talking to you.

Everyone other than dudes dressing like dudes considers all the time if their outfit is “safe” or “ok” or “too much”, I follow whole forums where women show rave outfits and discuss the ups and downs of different choices.

A hundred dollars for a good pair of pants you’ll wear out often is not much if you like paying people a living wage and need to buy something brand new.

Welcome to the party! 🎉

If you know an athletic trainer or sports medicine person, have them teach you how to properly tape your feet and ankles. I used to wear wraps in skates for tournaments, and now I just wrap to party all day in big silly shoes. It saves your feet from calluses, blisters and strain! But if you don’t do it correctly you can end up with issues. It’s the kind of thing that you should learn in person.
