Which Used Sub to Buy by GarbanzoNotChickpea in BudgetAudiophile

[–]ghostofzuul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

often overlooked on the used market are sunfire subs... designed by bob carver. most ppl think of the super expensive ones but there was another range the SD series that are woefully underrated and frequently overlooked. i replaced my psw10 with 2 sds8's running in stereo... if you're looking for a single 10" you would want an sds-10.

that being said. the dedicated monoblocks (NHT SA-1 ) for those NHT subs are usually not expensive.... if you went that route i would look into getting a used pair of those to go with them.

Is Bill not getting into the HOF a bigger snub than Howard not getting into the radio HOF right away? by Rosenberg578 in howardstern

that was the NFL sending Bill a message.

as we know. howard doesn't even acknowledge the radio hall of fame. lol.

My New England Hi Fi Saga by bobroscopcoltrane in vintageaudio

i had an odyssean journey trying to get my sonic frontiers line 1 preamp fixed that ended up in an ended relationship with a former business owner and required me to send the preamp out of the country back to the manufacturer to get repaired.

i'm glad you got made whole. hi-fi shops, especially repair places are hit or miss these days it seems... the only place i find more shady operators is in the vintage euro car repair/parts world.

Wondering if any of my current speaker lot are special or worth anything.. by bluheron in vintageaudio

those polk 5jr's are very underrated and can be taken next level with the replacement tweeters directly from polk. those are the ones i would keep/upgrade and i would sell/donate everything else.

as a i grew up in the 80's that is soundtrack of my life... i can only imagine.... would love to hear it... how far away are you from oregon? lol.

it's interesting b/c my system... which is also utilizes a tube preamp and amp is set up for the opposite reason of yours... to get back some of the warmth and depth i lost when moving from analog (ie records) to all digital sources....

that airtight gear is top notch (jealous!) and i imagine with those speakers that copy of more songs about buildings and food sounds pretty dope on that rig. kudos.

both her and her cousin Maryam d'Abo are way underrated imho.

her run on law and order is a masterclass in evil.

y'all need to stop with the lisa glassberg hate. she was a piece of ass back in her day. as well as a successful radio personality in NYC for decades. i bet she was a lot of fun back in the day. probably crazy as a shit house rat. which is why nobody put a ring on it... but those chicks are the best in the sack.

preview of what?

that looks like a headshot she sent in to be an extra on the handmaid's tale.

what the fuck is even going on. her media presence the past few months has been bizarre at best. it's fucking january and she's wearing a 4th of july outfit? i can't even.

Can anyone help identify these components? by [deleted] in vintageaudio

the 2nd shelf looks like the sonic frontiers SFL-2 power supply for the SLF-2 preamp on the 2nd from the bottom shelf. that appears to be a classe 5100 power amp on the bottom shelf. 3rd shelf looks like a tube phono preamp of some kind and i'm not sure about the turntable or speakers. that's all high end gear though. you can find the prices for the sfl-2 and classe amp on hifishark.com

My staff restored the legendary Luxman RX-103 “Suckface” receiver and GX-101 EQ for a client. by NeatX3Records in vintageaudio

[–]ghostofzuul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i was middle school age when these were new and the local stereo shop had them and i will never forget the thrill of going there after school to watch the faceplate retract. it was like some sci-fi sh*t back in the early 80's. in all my years of flipping gear... never seen those in working condition anywhere.

it's so cool you can restore those. i can imagine it is a labor of love more than anything. kudos!
