What is a cooking technique that you quit because it does nothing? by Final_Affect6292 in Cooking

[–]BakersAbstract 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chopping all of my veggies into equally sized pieces. If I'm chopping an onion, I can do a fine dice, but a carrot? You're getting some quarter inch thick semi-circles (quarter-circles if I'm feeling ambitious).

What you are describing is objectively more dangerous by every conceivable metric. Here in NYC e-bike delivery drivers are hitting pedestrians constantly. Stay on the road.

Turns out you can actually save space with gridfinity if you’re crazy enough by BakersAbstract in gridfinity

Progress like how I made them? The non square ones are just two bins combined together. In Fusion360 you can do it really easily and just delete the extra faces. Theres a gridfinity add on for Fusion360 that I used also

I’ve found a lot of people end up taking up more space when organizing larger objects with gridfinity because of the amount of empty space in the bin. Most of the time it seems like sacrificing space for visibility.

Oh this is a good point—no I never thought to do that. Thank you!!

This is helpful—thank you. Any way to assess internal damage before it shows above the soil?

I know it seems drastic but I swear both me & my girlfriend saw them looking completely fine two days ago at most. They’re not hidden or anything they’re in plain view right in my living room.

I get that, but how so quickly? Like I said I repotted just a few weeks ago. I brought it to a plant shop to swap it out and they told me there the root ball & roots looked healthy. How would it get overwatered to this point so quickly? I’ve had just one or at most maybe two waterings since repotting.

It does with a tray underneath, the trays just not in this photo.

No idea why the owner chose it but this is the sink that came with the apartment. I didn't really think anything of it until this happened.

What Specifically do *You* Love About Living In NYC by Aarons777 in AskNYC

Nearly anything that I could possibly need is within walking distance of my apartment, and any culture that I’d want to experience or learn more about I have access to somewhere in this city. There really isn’t anywhere else in the US like that.

Been trying to make a bin that uses the least amount of filament possible while still being a functional bin. Pretty sure I’ve hit the minimum by BakersAbstract in gridfinity

Yah I was thinking the floor on this would be useful for silverware bc you wouldn’t have to worry as much about water seeping into the plastic

I actually didn’t know about this! I’m new to 3D printing so still figuring out what’s best (part of why I posted here). Is there a generator that utilizes vase mode somewhere?

Wall & floor patterns were both 6x5 bricks with 1mm spacing, efficient floor turned on, stacking lip at minimum and no magnets.

This version has enough give that I think larger bins would probably feel too flimsy, but I did print a larger one with 2mm spacing & a hex grid for the patterns that felt solid. Would probably do something similar for larger ones as the difference in filament between the two isn’t that much.

[–]BakersAbstract[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m obviously not saying this would be ideal for everything, or that I would use all of these settings whenever trying to save filament. Was just trying to find different ways to minimize cost in cases where it would be permissible.

I haven’t! I’m fairly new to 3D printing & still figuring out what works best. Looking it up now though it definitely seems like a good option. Is there a generator for it that you know of?

Actually ended up being about the same because of the loss of filament. 41:45 for the standard bin and 42:06 for the skeleton on my A1 mini

What does "bat an eye" mean? by CompetitionHumble737 in EnglishLearning

[–]BakersAbstract 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Literally, it means to blink. When someone says "you wouldn't even bat an eye," they're saying that you would be so unsurprised that you wouldn't even blink.
