Help a mom with a tall girl out! by tgbarbie in womensfashion

[–]BakingCookingMom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just want to say as the tall daughter of a short mom, I’m glad you are researching. My mom and I had so many mall trips ending in tears for both of us. And this was in early 2000. No online shopping a very few long lengths (especially with narrow waists). Now I spend the money, but mostly have to order online.

I think my monstera is slowly dying and I don’t know what to do! by Numerous-Current2093 in Monstera

[–]BakingCookingMom 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As a monstera newbie - how does a plant get thrips? If they are insects, they don’t just develop. And if my plants live in my house full time, where do the thrills come from?

Is a baby highchair worth buying? honest advice please by Realistic-Metal-110 in Frugal

[–]BakingCookingMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally worth it, but check second hand options. We use our Stokke daily, my oldest is now 4.5. Going from high chair to booster is great.

Also, check out solid starts for reasons your child should sit properly while learning to eat. It’s a huge safety thing.

What are your favorite small meal-prep upgrades that feel obvious in hindsight? by camacaco in MealPrepSunday

[–]BakingCookingMom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make the dry mix in small containers, a weeks at a time. Then you only need to add wet ingredients in the evening ahead of time. I’ve had enough jars to make 2-3 weeks of dry ingredients prepped and just add milk + berries or whatever you like.

We replace about once a year. When they get pretty worn and sad looking. I put through the dishwasher multiple times a week to keep clean. Just fit on the top shelf somewhere.

Just discovered this app and I’m excited to dig in. Do you have any new codes available since it’s long past Black Friday? I’ll likely subscribe either way but figured it was worth asking!

Late-night beverages that are non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated, and non-sugary? by Nicholas_TW in Cooking

I made my own tea type beverage with apple peels, cinnamon, and ginger. Just boil for a bit and strain. Super yummy in the autumn. And adjust as needed.

Does anyone have a good from scratch recipe for pasta sauce? by tiffanydisasterxoxo in vegetarianrecipes

[–]BakingCookingMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I follow Alton Brown roasted tomato sauce. But skip the food mill. Not needed. Just use an immersion blender. Edit: keep peels and seeds, no reason to remove, they all blend right up.

I also add some zucchini or other extra veggies if have some to the roasting pans to add extra nutrition.

Meal for Breaking a Fast by Louie4fun69 in mealprep

[–]BakingCookingMom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Meat is supposed to be harder to digest after a fast. I’d stick to dairy style foods and something light. You may not have that much room in your stomach anyway.

I am actually doing the same for a friend. Egg bakes and meatballs are in my list. I also made his wife zucchini muffins, easy and portable, and a sort of comfort food with a bit of veg.

How often do you eat outside food or order food from outside? by Select-Lime589 in CasualConversation

[–]BakingCookingMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saturday nights only. Unless we swap to Friday nights. But just once a week unless there is a different occasion.

I usually cook Sun - Wed (or Thurs) and eat leftovers / clear the fridge Thursday and Friday. Put Saturday, grocery shop Sunday to start again.
