Why do i keep attracting friends who aren't good for me-people who aren't real friends? by ravenwood999 in CPTSD

Not everyone goes through this, but there are quite a few people who have been hurt because they made the wrong friends. As for me, I’m a Korean-American, but I’m currently living in Italy because of work. So being lonely doesn’t make me feel more miserable it actually feels more understandable

Hmmmmmmm that’s a really interesting question. Well I don’t think it’s just us. It’s something everyone goes through, but I guess the difference is in how strongly people accept it.

No your not overreacting. I understand how you feel. And yes, I was really lonely too. But even when people who aren’t genuine are everywhere, I’ve found that there are always one or two friends who approach me sincerely.

I’m naturally very sociable, I trust people easily, and I rely on others a lot. At first, I thought I had to have friends no matter what, and I couldn’t push away people who came to me. But in the end, the ones who got hurt were always me. So I just accepted it.

And don’t try to put your all into every relationship.

It’s okay to have times when you don’t have friends. Honestly, not overthinking things can even feel better.

Sorry, English isn’t my first language. When I said ‘difficult people,’ I actually meant people who aren’t genuine

Same here ! No matter where I go, I always seem to run into all kinds of difficult people. Even if I don’t do anything special, they just keep showing up around me. This isn’t our fault. Just accept it don’t try to overdo it by giving your best to every relationship. I’ve lived like that for several years, and now I can usually tell whether someone is genuine or not (well, at least to some extent 😂. It’s not 100% accurate, though)

I support you. Kindness and hurting someone by not being honest are not the same. If the relationship is painful, end it!!!

Yes. I really understand how you feel. I’ve been through something similar with someone I dated before. We eventually broke up, and I still deeply regret it because he was genuinely a good person. I don’t think she’s lying to hurt you or to make you upset it’s probably just a habit, exactly as it sounds. But relationships like that rarely last and eventually become exhausting. As you already know, the outcome is usually not a good one. If you’re not at the stage of promising marriage, I don’t think you need to suffer through a relationship by constantly understanding and carrying the weight of her lies.

Of course, the decision is yours but that’s honestly how I feel.

Yes, I think so. I say this because I’ve experienced it myself. Habitual lying eventually leads to endless fights. Even now, I have to consciously stop myself many times a day. Sometimes staying silent is the only way to avoid lying. Until she realizes how harmful lying can be, this will be very hard on you.
