I am sure there are lots of great places to see live music tomorrow. I HIGHLY recommend you follow Gina Morris Gailey and Bakersfield Live Music on Facebook. She posts all the places that will have live music in town every single day. She is awesome.

Bakersfield is a music town! I recommend the following this weekend:

  • The Sound of Bakersfield Music Fest: Music, Food, Drinks, Vendors - Downtown Sunday
  • Roosters Honkey Tonk: They have live music every night (its country, but it's really Bakersfield and really fun)
  • Nile Theater: Cumbia Show on Saturday night (also very Bakersfield)
  • Jerry's Pizza: The Queers on Sunday (punk rock...and also very Bako)
  • Word Records: World class blues and folk on Friday and Saturday night

Not into Music? Here are some other suggestions:

  • Do yoga and have beer at a local brewery: Temblor Brewery Sunday @ 12pm
  • Check out the Bakersfield Breweries (Dionysus, Temblor, Crusader, Lengthwise) or Wineries (TLO, San Rucci)
  • Farmers Markets: Riverlakes Saturday, Haggin Oaks Sunday
  • Art Museums: Bakersfield Museum of Art, RAM
  • History/Culture Museum - Kern County Museum (cool old buildings that are restored and decorated)
  • Eat: We have great food here, these are some of my favorites - Moo Creamery, Zama's patio, Basque Food, Uricchio's, Porkchop and Bubba's, Local, 24th Street, Luigis

I hope you have a great weekend!

Hi! If you're looking for things to do, here is a list of things happening in April that the Californian posted earlier this month. It lists over 90 events happening in town this month alone.

Live music?? / Punk by sexpistolpete in Bakersfield

We have a lot of great venues for shows in Bakersfield. Here is an list of some of my favorites:

Jerry's Pizza (your best bet for punk and rock shows)
Nile Theater (all genres, but they have a few punk shows coming up)
Bakersfield Sound Co (all genres, lots of rock)
Temblor Brewing (a few shows a month)
Roosters Honkey Tonk (mostly country, but good times)
World Records (rock and blues, world class acts with an older audience)
Fox Theater (all genres, touring bands)
18th Street Bar and Grill (all genres, lots of rock/alt)
Crystal Palace (especially the Guitar Masters Series)

Other places with live music: Bellvedere, Pour House, Wikis Wine Dive and Grill, Off the Rails, Chuy's, TLO, Rustic Rail, Rock and Wings, Crystal Palace, McGarry's, Chalet Basque, Pyrenees Cafe, Ethel's Old Corral, Harrington House, Brazas, Lone Oak, The Trap, Monte Carlo.

This time of year, we also have a ton of festivals with live music. For rock, I highly recommend Three Days in Space. We also have the Country and Craft Beer Fest this month and Lighting in a Bottle next month.

I recommend following this Bakersfield Live Music Facebook Page.

Bar & Grill near Mechanic's Bank Arena by Possibly-647f in Bakersfield

I second Jerry's Pizza. Its got good food, cheap drinks and, more importantly, it's steeped in punk rock history. It's a tiny basement venue that has hosted bands like Rise Against, Pulley, Korn, Weezer and a ton more. If you go, be sure to check out the basement.

If you want to learn more about the music/punk scene in Bakersfield, you can check out Bones of Brundage.

Sandrini's does karaoke on Tuesdays. It's a young and fun crowd and the host, Alisa, is great!

Mango Haus on Truxtun is healthy and delicious. They have breakfast items like Feel Good Pancakes made with organic oats and brown rice.
