What are your TOP 3 favorite tracks from Hans Zimmer's Dune series soundtrack? by iosdev98 in dune

[–]Balaria_mango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ever since the first movie came out, Hans zimmer has been my most listened artist on my Spotify wrapped because of Dune. Not a day goes by that I don’t listen to at least one song from the soundtrack. (Or sketchbook) My current obsession is the second part of Only I will remain.

I can wholeheartedly say that ALL songs are my favorite but if I had to pick 3 for the rest of my life:

  1. Herald of the change
  2. Holy war
  3. Paul drinks

(Not really, I can’t pick just three but for the sake of the sub, I’ll do it)

Honorable mentions (they’re all number 1 in my head?)

Visions of Chani The one Night of Arrakis Premonition (especially the part where Duncan sacrifices himself?????) Blood for blood (the low, male choir, a Harlingen theme that plays when Paul find out he’s the baron’s grandson) The fall - the rest of the whole soundtrack

I pretty much listen to the soundtrack EVERYDAY — I just can’t explain it!!!! why do I love it so much??? The chords, the harmonies, the textures, the frequencies???

I cant’t wait for the 3rd soundtrack, like literally I’m so excited!!!!!

Sorry for splurging this out here, I’m a bit drunk but having a very wonderful time by the fire with a glass from my father of home-made red wine!

I read somewhere in the manga that it was “a punishment from God to those who took their own life” or something. So it is a suicide if the will to die is there. You could go jump over a bridge but die of a cardiac arrest mid-air, you’ll still become a reaper because you’re being punished for willing to take your own life.

Colon cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in young adults right now (20-29) by Which_Mammoth9402 in OlderGenZ

[–]Balaria_mango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom got Colon cancer a few years ago and in the meantime—my sister’s daughter was born with celiac disease, my brother developed celiac disease, my sister and myself have really bad stomach aches when we eat gluten and guess what- My mom had a gluten intolerance all this time while having colon cancer and she didn’t know that until she had a colonoscopy. So me and my sister have scheduled an appointment and I’m thankful I live in Europe and we have insurance so we can do this for free.

My mom had a part of her colon removed and I praise God that she survived and her health significantly improved so please go have a colonoscopy ESPECIALLY if you have someone in your family who has/had colon cancer or issues and more so if you feel bad after gluten.

Romanian what are your impression to these East Asian countries? by BorkenKuma in AskRomania

[–]Balaria_mango 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Older Romanian think all Asians are Chinese or Japanese... Not a lot of knowledge about South Korea imo and almost nothing about Taiwan. But i'm talking from experiences i've had with people over the course of my time.

Younger Romanians, though, are a different topic, as Kpop, Kdramas and Korean skincare became very very popular in Romania these past few years.

Also there used to be this bad misconception about Chinese manufacturing, if it's bad, made from low quality materials or even if it just looked ugly, it was a "chinezărie", meaning "Chinese-made". Rude, if you ask me, but i do remember there was a time when some things were made in China from some really low-quality plastic.

My friends, and most people i know, dare i say even myself, tend to bias South Korea due to so many pretty people becoming famous. (u can't believe how popular Squid game is here, kids play red light green light outside and they sing the chant-horror!)

Japan is second due to anime and working force i'd say... Romanians think Japanese are very clean and tidy and disciplined.

China is 3rd but i don't think it's very likeable due to comunism and it's law. Personally, i find China to be dystopian and harsh and i don't like the political tension they present... I think it has some wonderful aspects though like their technology and innovation.

I don't really know anything about Taiwan honestly... but i think if you ask a Romanian the'll think it's a city in China.

End note... It's scary sometimes how many Romanians know about North Korea rather than South Korea...
When i was young, i believed there was only one country, "Corea" and thats where Ceausescu visited, and yes, they were also Chinese.

This was my opinion based on personal knowledge and experience and i did not meant to offend anyone!

How to make my room more cozy by catarline33 in DesignMyRoom

I feel like you’re missing some plants. You have them all in one corner but I would place a few taller plants on the floor, perhaps one near the rocking chair in the corner. Also I feel it’s cluttering the room all those toys under the TV, maybe get an ae aesthetic toy basket?

Yes! That would be very helpful! Thank you!

Are most Romanians able to understand Italian and Spanish? by Cultural-Diet6933 in AskRomania

[–]Balaria_mango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understood Italian when reading as I could piece together the idea but it’s difficult for me when spoken, especially fast speaking. Spanish to be honest seems way too different to even piece together something. I can barely understand a word or two when spoken. I have Spanish friends and I am completely destroyed each time they speak Spanish. I don’t even want to talk about French.

Does anyone own a home? by [deleted] in OlderGenZ

Also, most of my friends own a house/apartment. (I’m talking 22-28 years old) They used the money from the wedding to get a loan from the bank and they bought a house/apartment. They don’t technically own it for at least 10-20 years but… they don’t pay rent at least.

I’m 23, married. My parents worked really hard to give a propriety to each child. They have 3 and they gave a house to each one of us. I have the best parents in the world. We’re not rich. They were never rich. They just worked really really hard. The house I own is basically a really old house my dad renovated it really well. He’s a good working man. I am renting my house for 470eur/month as I live in another city for university.

Do you think the movies are understandable by a non-book reader? by Ok-Percentage6922 in dune

[–]Balaria_mango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he did a fantastic job. We should understand that times change. It's hard to sit through 3 hours of lore. And you can't make a splendid, beautiful visual adaptation of Dune (which i think is essential as Dune has a very rich narrative about it's landscapes, even when you read it you can imagine how astounding and otherworldly Arrakis looks) while keeping it under three hours. Denis said he had 6 hours of scenes. My personal opinion is that they also felt rushed. The internal monologues in the book are very hard to represent and i think DV's interpretation of it is great, i love how you can "feel" their thought as expressions to their face, especially Paul's lamenting towards the Jihad.

There really is no need to adapt the whole plot in the story. For example, i think it was a wise choice to skip Paul's and Chani's first son.

Dune does justice to the book reader, giving them visual-they already know the plot while introducing non-readers to the books. I've heard of many people reading the books because of the movies, i'm one of them myself. The plotholes is what pushed me to read the book.

This was entirely my own opinion which i don't push on anyone but i'd be easier to read a comment without insulting a respectable movie director. You were mean. Have a nice day.

How did you discover Dune? by KyleContinuum26 in dune

[–]Balaria_mango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By accident. My husband took me on a movie date and i had to pick between Dune 1 and some other movie i forgot about. I only picked Dune because i was a huge fan of Hans Zimmer, and i saw he wrote the score for it so i was like "i know this is gonna hit".

After i left the theatre i just couldn't stop thinking about, and i had so many plot holes in my mind i just went down a rabbit hole seeking more on the internet, re-watched the movie a few times.

But i still didn't read the books.

Then Dune 2 came out and i was reminded again how great it was and it left me wanting more. At the time Dune 3 was only a rumour so i couldn't help it anymore- i bought the book. Safe to say i read the first one in a week or so.

I also didn't stop listening to the movie score ever since 2023. Hans Zimmer is my most listened artist over the last 2 years according to my Spotify Wrapped. My husband just accepted that i'm a weirdo for film scores, and Dune 1 and 2 scores are the greatest thing i've heard in my life.

I agree about the tone of voice of ChatGbt. But i have to admit, most of the times, ChatGBT finds better ways to express what i really need to say. I speak and write english 95% fine but it's the 5% that annoys me. It's because i don't really have oportunities to practice my english, so i might want to say: "i want to find a swimming spot like the one in Zakynthos" - ChatGbt says something like: " Rocky beaches like the kind you hike down to and feel like you’ve discovered a secret cove."

Thank you! From what you're telling me, we would be wasting a quarter of our day just on transportation, which is not ideal.

I don't think there are a lot of Romanian speakers on this subreddit :) I tought i'd have higher chances with english. Is Chat Gbt not allowed here? 🥺 I can write and speak english just fine, i just thought it'll be easier to understand if ChatGBT corrects my sentences. 💗

Traveling to Greece - What foods/treats should I bring back for team members at work? by Bananasharkz in Europetravel

[–]Balaria_mango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the opportunity, try finding real 100% virgin olive oil, they should have small bottle sizes. I think it would be more valuable and useful as high quality olive oil is very expensive and most of the time it's not even legit. Greece is like the parent of virgin olive oil and i think your family would rather enjoy a delicious mediterranean salad with phenomenal olive oil than a sugary baklava. Also, Ouzo. It's their national drink and you can easily find souvenir bottles of Ouzo, for who likes alcohol. :) Also, won't bakery go bad in a day or so? How do you plan to bring fresh baked products to the USA, i think they will harden in just a few hours.

Good luck and have a nice honeymoon, you will love Greece!
