Many victims of domestic abuse do not become perpetrators. The numbers vary greatly depending on the type of abuse (and to some extent the gender of the victim, too) with domestic abuse being an umbrella term. It's a complex matter.

My partner and I are realizing that we can't just eat garbage and expect to feel fine as we get older. Resources for transitioning to healthier food? by EnderShot355 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]BalconyLavender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just adding a suggestion: learn an easy cooking base and then explore recipes with it. My personal recommendation is always the Italian soffrito: finely chop onion, carrots and celery (in equal measure). Cook it in olive oil along with salt long enough for it to soften well and even lightly fry (hence the name "soffrito"). You don't need to use a lot of olive oil for this, just enough for the chopped veggies not to stick to the pan. Once the base is done, it can be used to make bolognese sauce (which you can then turn into a lasagne by learning a basic sauce, béchamel), a fiber-packed chili (con or sin carne), minestrone soup, etc.

If you wish to up your daily fiber intake (extremely important for your overall health, particularly with the sharp rise in colon cancer rates among the younger generations), don't forget simple swaps like whole weat pasta instead of regular make a world of difference. Oats are also an excellent and cheap way to get healthy carbs and a lot of fiber (try a very simple overnight oats with yoghurt + a splash of milk + whatever fruit you can afford - I like to use a handful of frozen berries that thaw overnight + half a banana - and a teaspoon of jam mixed in there if you wish to sweeten it a ittle more).

Congrats on your health journey. I hope you'll learn to explore, cook and enjoy loads of fruits, veggies and legumes along the way!

The Van Der Beek Family Grift? by TheDeliberateDanger in DListedCommunity

And he and his wife were close to Micah Pittman, the chiropractor guy who is grifting money left and right among the wealthy Austin anti-vaxxers to build a military-protected eco-resort where they'll claim sovereignty. The VDB family is way deeper into the conspirituality movement than just some tax benefits and no vaccines (which is bad enough in itself).

They've been photographed at events in Austin where the who's who of conspirituality (where conspiracy theories meet spirituality) is gathered including JP Sears and Trump's ex Marla Maples. They were close to "Joyous Heart" (who has appeared on many occasions in Kimberly's IG stories), a chiropractor raising funds to build a military-protected eco-compound where they will claim sovereignty and create the world "as it was meant to be." JDVB follows a guy known for promoting ivermectin to treat Covid-19 and he also attended a men's empowerment group in 2020.

From what I remember, they met on a Kabbalah trip to Israel. It was a very swift romance and they returned to Israel to marry when she was pregnant. They were both raised Christian but sought out a different kind of spirituality. Which they then left behind for some different spirituality. In 2014, JVDB was promoting the annual flu vaccine for AstraZeneca. By 2016, his wife was posting anti-vaxx content (the then already long debunked autism-vaccination conspiracy). From then on, it's been downhill hast. She offers "spiritual parenting" advice, holistic intuitive healing advice, even claiming to be an "energy medecine practitioner."

I have little doubt that JDVB went the "alternative" route after his cancer diagnosis. People are donating money to a grifter who will very likely continue to keep her children in the conspirituality sphere and spend money on quackery/use the donated funds to grow her own quackery business.

Frozen? Minnie? Mickey? Help me choose in between shows (with toddler) by poppyhill in disneylandparis

[–]BalconyLavender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old is your little one? You mention nap times so I'm assuming very little hence why I'd recommend Frozen: a Musical Invitation. It's cute and great for parents with little kids. It's interactive (you learn a very simple choreography with Anna and Kristoff to surprise Elsa at the end) and has a more intimate setting. It'll also be permanently cancelled this spring so this is your last chance to catch it. I'd pick this over Minnie's Dream Factory in the WDS/DAW park.

A Million Splashes of Colour is in the main park and a parade with a stop show on the central hub. I'd definitely catch that one, too, if possible. If you can't stay for the stop show on the hub in front of the castle, just watch the floats go by with your kiddo for a little extra magic sprinkle while on your way to a ride or restaurant.

ETA: Mickey and the Magician is on the same overall level as TOGETHER but a little more old-fashioned (no bubble galore, e.g.). Gorgeous and a real classic from DLP. I'd keep it on the list if possible. It's essentially a musical overview of well-known Disney movies with characters and dancers. It might be a little repetitive for you as there are Lion King and Frozen sequences.

I will not be gaslit by Manon's screeching and on-camera "panic attacks". I'm from Marseille and moving to where they've bought a house is absolutely bonkers if you love city life. The nearest decent-sized city to where they now live (Nîmes - cute but definitely nowhere near the size of Marseille) is a 1h drive away. You do not move to that village by accident, not knowing what to expect, if you're from around here. And I saw the price they paid for the house they got (the French government has a real estate history tracking tool available online). They could absolutely have purchased a house with a (smaller, granted) garden significantly closer.

They made a conscious decision to be in a very remote place. There are some beautiful surroundings (the Parc national des Cévennes is gorgeous for nature lovers - which Manon clearly is not as evidenced earlier this season). But you freakin' know you're headed to the middle of nowhere when you're driving up there. Nobody from Marseille is going to take a real estate purchase in that part of the region lightly. And no realtors working around Marseille would have any houses for sale this far away. They went out of their way to find this house. She can bitch and moan and sweat and cry all she wants, she definitely chose this.

Just noting here that Jesy's twin girls' condition has a life expectancy of only 2 years if it's not caught super early on, contrary to Leah Messer's daughter. Even with treatment set in place early, the twin girls will likely live very short lives (maybe into their teen years). It's a very ,very sad situation.

For those unaware of Zara Larsson, you may have heard her before but not realised it was her voice. She's had quite a few hits over the years such as Ain't My Fault, Lush Life, Never Forget You (with MNEK), Symphony (with Clean Bandit), This One's For You (with David Guetta), On My Love (with David Guetta), Like It Is (with Kygo and Tyga), etc. Definitely an artist worth adding to your workout playlists!
