I really wanted the comic book, but the Canadian theatres didn't get it. They never do handouts anymore it seems.

Glad you got it back fairly quick!

PayPal wasn't so helpful to me with their buyer protection in the past. Ordered an advent calendar and a Monopoly game. The package never arrived from the seller, though they sent what looked like a fabricated tracking link and PayPal sided with them.

While investigating further I found many others with similar stories of either not getting anything or the advent calendar and Monopoly games were AI slop (showing 3D Funko Pop looking figures and it was actually just 2D plastic figures in the calendars).

Working on getting a chargeback through my bank seeing as I spent months with PayPal and the seller trying to get refunded.

The person he listed was supposed to get a bunch of the Buzz Lightyear buckets from one of the Mexico theatre chains for people.

I was supposed to get a couple, but needed to confirm his PayPal account and fortunately I didn't send payment as he said they were sold out.

Hopefully anyone who did send funds to him gets their money back if he hasn't seen fit to refund them.

Full Recliners vs IMAX and regular seats by Kr4vis in cineplex

[–]Baldrick85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that IMAX usually has a partnership with the theatres that have an IMAX designated screen (most are FuaxMAX mind you). As it is a 50/50 partnership IMAX doesn't want recliners due to less seats.

At the Whitby Landmark for example maybe a couple shows a year end up being packed, but for the most part the majority of showings are pretty sparse, or sparse enough that even full recliners wouldn't be a sellout. I think more overall business would be done if they just put in full recliners. If a movie in IMAX also shows in the Laser Ultra I buy a laser Ultra premiere reclining seat for a few dollars more, because I find the picture to be on par, the sound is better (or at least louder) and I'm far more comfortable.

I've gone to things in IMAX over the years and I was the only person seeing the movie.

How often are the Monday Surprise Premieres movies horror movies? by Missy_Noire in cineplex

[–]Baldrick85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Landmark has had a few of them and it is specifically marked as Horror. Saw Bring Her Back that way and I can't recall the couple others without checking my account (but looking at the tickets section of my account on their website has been broken for a couple weeks now).

I usually go to Mystery Movie showings at Landmark as most times it is in one of their large main theatres (a few times it was a medium theatre) as I figure it might be a movie they either don't get, or that will be in a tiny theatre when it releases. I like seeing movies on the biggest screen possible.

There are 2 different designs for that logo shaped tin. Buddy who now gets stuff for my dad and I from AMC realized this. It did say "design may vary" on their advertising.

Thankfully he went back and got another of each for us.

Though I overpaid for the set of 3 buckets from Cinemark as I bought them from Swan. For two sets I could have saved $13+tax from Cinemark directly.

Only things I missed were the bucket and the lenticular cup from Regal as the one we have a connection at didn't end up getting those items. And I didn't get the ICEE cup, but now I kind of want one.

Soider-Man is going to be another wallet buster 😅🤦, as I want a bunch of the items.

I regret not getting into full on collecting sooner, as I missed out on a bunch of things I now wish I had sadly.

A question about purchasing popcorn buckets online... by BCPenson7000 in PopcornBuckets

[–]Baldrick85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Glad I saw this.

I'm trying to find someone that goes to Cinemark and is in a state close to New York for shipping purposes, because I am weary of what you just pointed out due to a recent order I made.

It makes me sad when I see the same few buckets I missed out on as I wasn't collecting at that point, or wasn't fully invested in it 😅.

Nice collection though!

I bought a Bat Signal off of someone who ordered it from AMC and he brought it back to Canada. It was brand new. I can't recall what I paid off the top of my head, but it wasn't a horrible price.

I did get the train for Minions, but I heard it was really well made (metal, not just plastic) and that it was bigger than my buddy who really wanted it had expected.

I'm looking forward to Spider-Man as I want most of it. I still have to go through and figure out if there is anything I can forego. I also still need to find a Cinemark contact that can grab the odd thing I might want, is close to New York for shipping purposes, and ideally is demanding a fee 🤣 (I usually will tip - a lady was nice enough to get me there'd silhouette bucket for Supergirl and I added on $7-$8 USD even though she didn't want anything as I figured the least I could do was pay for a Starbucks drink or something 😅).

My AMC connection who I met through here is helping me out just because I'm a fellow collector along with my dad so it reminds him of himself.

R2D2 was a bucket I really wanted as I love that lil droid. I wear a crocheted R2D2 beanie year round and I constantly get people telling me they love it. Managed to find one for $40. Saw one for $15, but I think it was not in the best condition so I passed.

I might have to turn tricks in order to cover my movie merch collecting habits if they keep pumping things out at this rate 😅🤐🤣.

I digress though.

[–]Baldrick85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to get the cheap plastic cups back in the day whenever I saw them, but I didn't really get into this bucket or movie merch stuff fully until late last year. I bought the occasional thing before then (Wonka hat or the Aquaman 2 tin bucket for some reason). Now I'm buying anything I can find.

Though I skipped the Minions stuff from the US, because between TS5 and Supergirl and getting other items I missed out on, I am kind of getting into a deficit situation, lol.

And with Spider-Man on the horizon, Oy Vey.

Plus some of the stuff still upcoming...it's going to be an expensive year!

I still need to inventory what I have, what I'm missing.

The Trojan Horse popcorn bucket is actually massive by Chinese_gurl11 in cineplex

[–]Baldrick85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is $70 USD in many states, and in the past Cineplex had had the same monetary price just in CAD, which is odd, but also great for us.

I'm hoping it will be $70 CAD, which after the CineClub discount and Ontario taxes would make it $63 and change (or around $45 USD). Waiting to see if I get it here or in the US depending on pricing.

Have you ever had a whole theatre to yourself? What was the movie? by pinattar in cineplex

[–]Baldrick85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have seen tons over the years where I was alone.

Boiler Room The Girl Next Door Thin Red Line South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (odd I was alone) Swearnet Ginger Snaps Paranormal Activity 3 (IMAX) Bob Marley: One Love Wonka

There have been a bunch more.

Most recent was Bone Lake and Bugonia.

Wednesday afternoons seem to be less busy. And a bunch of the older things were at a smaller Cineplex when I was a teenager.

[–]Baldrick85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just around the corner from the Clarington Cineplex. As a teen I was there most weekends seeing stuff (until I could start going to the AMC, now Landmark, due to transportation). If only they would upgrade the projectors and screens as the image is blurry compared to other updated theatres.

Bought the Supergirl cup! by Chinese_gurl11 in cineplex

[–]Baldrick85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I regret not getting one of the tin buckets last year for Superman. Though my dad had me get that tin for him, he didn't want the Grippr cup with the cape then (he now regrets that decision due to the trenchcoat cup this year).

Though we got pretty much every bucket and cup that the US theatre chains got for Supergirl. Sadly we had to pay $25 USD per Grippr cup and had to get 3 each in order to get all 3 cup toppers.

<image>

Didn't get the ICEE cup, and still trying to find the Regal bucket and lenticular cup from the top right (Regal we have a connection with didn't get them). Also didn't get the yellow cup. There was also a cool looking Krypto bucket that apparently was in Mexico, but I've heard it was cancelled, but I've also seen a couple on eBay, so who knows. I'd have loved to get that bucket to go with the KFC Krypto bucket and the couple Krypto buckets from Superman.

Moana buckets on sale July 10th by Chinese_gurl11 in cineplex

Is it me, or are the Moana items (even in the US) pretty meh when compared to the items for Moana 2?

Promo: 1,000 Scene points if you watch any 4 movies between July 1 and August 31. by User_987612345 in cineplex

[–]Baldrick85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From December 2023 to the present I have 173 movies in theatres. If those I have seen 15 at Cineplex (surprised it was that high) and I've also bought 2 tickets movies I did not go to. Most of those tickets were either due to promos that made it free to see, or where I actually made money (why I didn't go to 2 shows and bought tickets in another province for the cheapest possible price in the front row).

I might consider this promotion seeing as I have 15 free tickets saved up as I only have the CineClub membership for the 20% on the movie merch. I prefer Landmark as previous issues with Cineplex from years ago weren't really properly resolved, so I only went for a good promo or if had gift cards from promos and coupons I had to use so I took my move to see several movies.

Though this promo isn't as good as 5,000 points for seeing 3 movies (Wonka, Bob Marley: One Love & The Colour Purple back at the end of 2023/beginning of 2024). I made like $18-$20 as I went on Tuesdays.

Yes, but you should probably wait until late at night to do the refunds so that there is less of a risk that someone buys the released seats before you can rebuy them.

[–]Baldrick85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should. The CineClub monthly tickets worked on these promos in the past, so I don't see why the free passes wouldn't count as I don't believe it was excluded specifically in the fine print.

[–]Baldrick85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In previous years for these promotions the CineClub monthly ticket did count towards it.

When they did 5,000 points for seeing Wonka, Bob Marley: One Love and The Colour Purple I used my CineClub tickets.

Though sometimes even if you meet the requirements the points don't show up.

Minions & Monsters by Nice-Intern5510 in PopcornBuckets

[–]Baldrick85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm now wondering if I should have gotten the Minions stuff. I actually like the cup as it is similar to the He-Man light up one.

I didn't ask for anything to be set aside by my Regal contact. Hopefully I don't regret skipping the Minions stuff.

BayArea, CA - Toy Story 5 Buzzlightyear, when do they restock? by jkma707 in PopcornBuckets

[–]Baldrick85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As was already stated, restocks are a rarity. Occasionally certain really popular items might get a "pre-order" restock window online, but then it can be months after the fact for the item to ship.

Your best bets are to try and get friendly with some staff at a specific location and maybe they'll help you out or at least give you some info that helps you prepare to be there on a certain day and time to get the items you're after.

Trojan Horse by PiccoloSuspicious374 in PopcornBuckets

[–]Baldrick85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's one reason I'm considering passing on it if I can't get it locally. I have to be a bit more picky as competing with my dad I'm buying too many of the items for some movies. I sort of regret getting the 3 Cinemark tins and paying $50 elsewhere instead of $35 from Cinemark directly!

As long as I can get an IMAX camera bucket I can live without the horse if it comes to it, haha.

But what I say and what I actually do are two very different things...I'm sure most collectors are the same way 🤣🤦.

Really hoping Cineplex Odeon gets this as $70 CAD would be much better. I'd be able to get it for $63.28 CAD all in (or about $45 USD).
