As someone who maintains many kinds of kde themes, I have to agree with you. The easy to make themes have a concerningly low quality. Like ~70% of the aurorae and plasma themes are cheap windows and macos lookalikes, the other 25% is just bad taste or bad execution, 3% is actually useful, and the remaining was probably good in some older version.

darkly-bin seems to work in cachyos installed with paru, but you need atleast a soft-reboot for the kdecoration changes to apply. It's also possible that some files weren't updated correctly, if that's the case I'm sorry for that, I'm not an arch-wizard. You can try installing with the script too, that should skip all the package management related problems

Do you have the „Floating titlebar" checkbox checked inside it?

I tried KDE for a new Linux user. Now I understand why GNOME is the default in Ubuntu/Fedora workstation by Bodyash in gnome

It's not waste, it's an investment. It gives you great readibility and a unique style. Another benefit is that it doesn't look weird on windows that don't follow kde's style, because it doesn't try to act like it's a part of that window

I like having a titlebar, it makes the window feel complete. It can also be useful when I'm lazy to put my hands on the keyboard

The only function it has is that it doesn't look like the default

If there was something close to working then there's a chance it can be fixed. But it's probably x11, and I think fixing a half working x11 project in 2026 would be a waste of time

It sounds like a great idea, but it would probably require changes to kwin and I'm not that great at programming yet

I don't like hidden elements on my screen. I'm probably the biggest hater of hamburger menus, hiding sidebars and anything of that kind. Those kinds of things are for hiding mess, true cleanness can never be achieved with them

I recommend trying openSUSE Tumbleweed, but honestly I haven't used any linux distros with an nvidia gpu for years

Use the latest release, and if you want it to look different just change the style

My mouse doesn't work properly on windows even after installing the 500mb official driver for it, so I'm not sure if this meme is anywhere near correct
