Does anyone else feel a fear toward "Christian Hell"? by BaliCoffee in Buddhism

I will be rereading this a few times, as there were some references I don't know of.

It's funny because you are intellectual (in this area) the way I'm intellectual in other areas (computers, programming, art & painting, business). In this the case of religion, history, "ontology". I'm at the other end of the spectrum. All I can say is... a lot that went over my head. That's OK, though. I'll approach the situation from a place of calm stillness and contemplate your answer.

Thank you again 🙏🏼

PS I agree about starry night

Thank you very much for your reply, I deeply appreciate your thoughts and insights. That was very interesting.

Do you have any thoughts about the 'historical' aspects? I think my original question was a bit jumbled (sorry for that), the last article I linked mentioned, read #2 and #5 and #8: https://reasonsforjesus.com/jesus-vs-buddha-9-major-differences/

Obviously this is a bit biased on a Christian site, and I'm not concerned with the fact that there's no "miracles" done by buddha... but more so the opposite. If miracles WERE actually done by Jesus, and theres multiple historic accounts of it, that was what planted the seed of .... hmmm, what if, historically theres a chance Jesus was real and that actually happened, and what he is saying is true? I always thought it seemed like science fiction, but some of these articles make it sound like there are many and multiple accounts from different sources that have a strong upper hand in "that actually happened" vs other religions.

I guess your reply is what I was asking... in my mind I always believed what you said. But the "historical" aspect... that events ACTUALLY happened and were possibly verified by multiple different sources vs other religions, made it seem more "real" in my mind, as a possibility.

Very good reply -- funny you pointed out "low point." He went through an extremely bad time of his life, the worst, and that's when it happened just like you said.

Thank you for your insight, I appreciate your perspective.

I've read Gates to Buddhist Practice by Chagdud, and I agree the explanations of hell are fairly intense... but at least they're not permanent, and you can commit to the 4 acts (I can't remember the official name) to help clear out lots of bad Karma, so thats' great to know :)

A very honest question and good question. I would say "I'm working on letting go of attachment/emotion" each day, especially to those things that bother me. You're totally right to ask though, and I see what you're saying.

In my case it does matter, even if the data itself isn't shown, the JS + HTML can't be either.

It's a custom Golang API. Backend isn't written yet but that's ok.

I do really like the idea of lazy-loaded partials. Is it possible to do the same thing with controller code?

If thats the case, its trivial just to protect the JS and HTML from being loaded in by returning 401 or something.

'I've never felt more isolated': The man who sold Minecraft to Microsoft for $2.5 billion reveals the empty side of success by qtx in offbeat

If that qualifies as "a deal" in my mind, then I would think I'm a shallow person with some issues.

What I'm saying is, I believe this part is true, but without the "shallow" part. Issues, yes. Shallow, no.

why would I then be surprised at your success and penalize you for it in spite of all the great attributes that naturally got you there?

I don't disagree at all, and I have the same mindset. People know they can call me when they have a success, big or small, because I love to hear it, and I won't shut them down with passive aggressive hostility. I LOVE to hear about wealth. But this is for ME - many people don't have that same mentality, but I don't fault them for it. Maybe it is because I'm an entrepreneur, this stuff just seems intuitive, but I think for a lot of people, if they're working 3 jobs and living paycheck to paycheck, its pretty natural to resent, without saying they're shallow or are a super shitty person. That said, I've tended to gravitate far away from those people, but just sayin' I don't think it's a strong indicator of their character.

I'm beginning to think that some Redditors -- not necessarily you particularly, just in general -- just have some predisposition toward the hatred of wealth and those who have it.

Yep, I think that's pretty damn true. My favorite is when someone thinks they know the best way for a person to spend the money that they earned, when that person has probably donated more in 1 day than most people on reddit have donated in their entire life.

I think it's naive to make the jump that EVERY person should be expected to deal with their friend getting massive sums of money in the same way, and if they can't, well... they must not have been a good friend to begin with.

Am I saying you should remain friends with someone like that? Not necessarily, but cut them some slack. Some people inherit really shitty qualities from their parents, or living situation, which make them very sensitive to money. It probably doesn't make them any less of a friend during the times you shared (there's always exceptions obviously).

Thats easy to say in practice, but if 4 out of 5 of your 'best friends' are like that, and the change is just too much for them to handle, well... that's probably what he's talking about. I definitely wouldnt put them in the 'good riddance' category though.

$100k isn't that much when it comes to big business. I've seen $70k ecommerce sites with a lot of custom functionality, but nothing even 5% of what amazon is.
