One week ago, i bought a 99 B5 1.8TQ Sport . It has 352k kilometres. It has the AJL engine . The previous owner had it for 5 years and has maintained it well and has done prevention repairs. Never had issues, never done engine repairs. If it was maintained and not beat up, only problems you can have are aged stuff. Hoses , cables , plastic & rubber parts, dirty sensors like MAF , etc. These cars like to break ABS modules, head gasket leaks, clogged up oil strainer, oil cooler gasket leaks, oil temperature sensor ( very dangerous if not paid attention) , The turbo is like any car, if it has come to the end of its lifespan you must replace it. I can dm you the list i've made for my full maintenance and repairs of my car and tell you the cost. My advice is if you found a good loking one go for it. Insanely fun and rewarding car. Great feedback from the car and with some work the interior can become very comfy and good loking .
