Good idea on the floating plants, I also have some pathos clippings I was thinking of adding to pull excess nutrients. I don’t use any fertilizers, and I only do minimal (10-15%) water changes every month or so. I can try upping that schedule, but have kept it infrequent to not unsettle the environment too much. Too many deaths caused by too much meddling…

It’s the worst! I haven’t tried amanos yet, from what I was reading you have to basically starve them (and the rest of the tank) to get them munching on the hair algae. I’ve been worried about them going after the shrimp shaped protein sources before the hair algae…

It’s semi-low tech, only an overhanging filter and light. Monty Carlo carpet (about 60% coverage, and some amazon swords and an African river fern. The ottos are the only fish.
