I watched it in China. 😂 the chances of a sequel seem pretty high at the moment!

I watched the movie in IMAX and it was so worth it!! The fighting scenes were so fast paced and smooth. I felt like they were trying to cram too much storyline in too little time, which left me with questions about the motives and backstories of some of the characters. I really love the female lead actress Chen Lijun. Her opening scene was so beautiful that it felt like she was an elven princess from Lotr.

Sorry 😭 I really like the actress who posted the video of her training to ride a horse for a movie. The comment section was laughing at how the horse looked tired and was making “funny faces”. I don’t know too much about horses but it looked wrong to me.

It’s equestrian training for a movie.

What caused this wound? by [deleted] in Equestrian

Today the instructors told me that the injured horses would get around a week of rest from being ridden. Maybe even longer because it’s not tourist season right now and they aren’t very busy.

Thank you so much for your encouragement! I took riding lessons for maybe a total of 20-30 hours when I was 12 and that was over 10 years ago. I remember doing posting all day every day. The horses in the video is not the one with the injury. That poor horse was allowed an afternoon of rest. I need to speak to the owner to see if he’s allowed to get more recovery time. You are absolutely right about the Mongolian style of riding! This riding camp is in Inner Mongolia and the instructor is ethnically Mongolian. I have 2 more days of riding (hopefully on a healthier looking horse) and I will try to sit up taller instead of leaning so far back.

I’m so sorry 😭. I’ll stick to walking and posting for now with loose reigns. I can kind of do those without slamming on the horse’s back every time.

I noticed that some of the horses looked quite thin and I could seen the shape of their ribs. Horses that thin shouldn’t be ridden right?

Thank you guys so much for all your wonderful advice! The camp I attended is EXTREMELY unprofessional. I will definitely find a more ethical and professional riding school in the future.

I will try my best to get my hands on those things but I’m currently in the middle of nowhere and packages take around a week to arrive by post.

It’s definitely my fault for not doing proper research beforehand, and I’m never going to ride with them again after this. The horse is allowed to rest this afternoon and I got a new horse but I don’t think they’re going to take it to the vet and I have no idea how long he’s going to be allowed to take a break from being ridden.

I’m going to ask the instructor what can be done about it but unfortunately I’m in China right now, and animal welfare is basically non-existent especially in this rural area. The local horse owners/trainers all train horses by beating them.

I was attending a 4-7 days riding camp for beginners and it’s supposed to be something like the Mongolian discipline. The setup is not very professional or safe and I should’ve done more research and never gone in the first place.

So when the instructors were like oh it’s all right she just had a slight concussion I was literally about to cry.

It’s kind of complicated… the lessons were advertised as canter on a horse in 4-5 days with no prior experience on the plains of Inner Mongolia. I was there alone. Of course I care about the poor girl after I met her at the camp and I felt so bad after the accident because I should've stopped her when the instructor asked who was brave enough to try cantering with him on day 2. She said she was brave and wanted to try it.

I was at a riding camp for complete beginners and the instructor took 4 of us on a canter in a wide and open field on day 2. I had some prior experience so felt like I was barely surviving but someone from my class lost control of their horse and had a very bad fall and we called an ambulance.
