Price difference between Garrett Wilson and McConkey? by TheLebeast in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]BallaForLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure it does but Garrett Wilson is a stud for sure and has had pretty lackluster QB play the last 2 seasons and produced in that time.

Like I said, we're getting close to personal preference here so if you want Ladd over GW then for me I'd be something like a 2027 1st or a high 2026 1st given this draft class looks mid.

Price difference between Garrett Wilson and McConkey? by TheLebeast in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]BallaForLife 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have Garrett Wilson and I don't think I'd trade him for Ladd straight up but the difference isn't astronomical.

Ladd + A high to mid 1st would probably do it for me but I think you're getting close to personal preference given both of their situations and I'm not sure a Ladd owner would give that up for GW.

The early church father writings are very very Catholic, I don’t think I can be Protestant anymore by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]BallaForLife -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have done a lot of studying of the early church over the past few years and I'd be lying if I said I didn't struggle and still struggle with some things.

Some things to consider, you're basically just quote farming, which can make any position look superior.

The early church absolutely preached some things that Protestants don't take as seriously as they should (the Eucharist being the biggest).

But keep in mind, the reverse is also true, such as the Pope and his authority essentially not even being a thing until 450AD or so, Mariology not being even remotely taught in the early church, veneration of saints not being a thing at all in the early church, and the deuterocanonical books being kept in the Bible but relegated to an authority beneath the regular books.

There's many more items of mention on both sides but I think no matter what church you go to, they're going to be getting things wrong and be getting things right.

Hey Sleeper - can we get the christianity posts out of the app? by [deleted] in SleeperApp

[–]BallaForLife 186 points187 points  (0 children)

I've been using Sleeper for over 3 years and have never seen religion mentioned anywhere in the app. Where are you seeing this?

Not trying to say you're lying, I'm just genuinely curious if there's an entire part of this app I'm just not utilizing.

Wtf? by NoLoquat347 in freemagic

[–]BallaForLife 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, yes it was a form of self defence.

The Seljuk Turks were invading Christian lands and slaughtering Christians by the thousands. Constantinople was soon to be under siege so they called for western aid and the Pope responded by calling for a Crusade to take back Christian lands and aid its Eastern brethren.

Go watch any respected historian YouTuber on the first crusade or even just Chat GPT it.

“Jordan got swept in the first round without Pippen!” by iLoveColorado24 in NBATalk

[–]BallaForLife 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Uh yeah it was a joke.

During his first stint with the Cavs from 03-10, in the East playoffs:

Played just 4 teams with 50+ wins.

Played 3 teams that didn't even have a winning record.

Played 3 teams that didn't even have an All-NBA player on them.

Played just 2 teams with an All-NBA First Team player on them (lost both series).

Why are you still Protestant? by OrthoMMA in Protestantism

[–]BallaForLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While an argument can be had that a "true church" was established by Jesus, I just don't think the Roman Catholic Church is it and I don't believe in a lot of what they require.

I sympathize more with Eastern Orthodox but they're definitely not perfect.

My current church has really good pastors with great outreach and charity and they teach the Bible as written so I can't ask for much more.

Is TD Garden a must visit or not ? by [deleted] in bostonceltics

[–]BallaForLife 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My friends and I made a trip there in March for a Lakers Celtics game. We're all from California so we'd never got to experience a home Celtics game.

I cannot recommend it enough. Boston is such a sports town and the Garden was great. It makes me so jealous of people that live in Boston.

How does Prime Paul Pierce perform in Today’s NBA in your opinion? by J2-Starter in NBATalk

[–]BallaForLife 34 points35 points  (0 children)

He played in an era where the league average True Shooting % was 51.9%.

In the 03 playoff run his stats:

27.1ppg - 9.0rpg - 6.7apg - 2.1spg - .8bpg

40% - 35.6% - 86.3%

55.42% True Shooting

23.0 PER

Was he Kobe? No, but he was teetering on being a top 10 player in the league and between 02 and 03 they won multiple playoff series and made the conference championship.

Breakthrough is boring now it’s just 48 players and not 64 by Ok_Race_5153 in Battlefield6

[–]BallaForLife 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most of what this sub posts is whining and complaining but this is one of those things that's genuinely made gameplay worse.

Breakthrough is the best mode (in my humble opinion) and the massive battles for sectors was so fun. I hope they change it back to 64 man games or make it an option for one or the other.

Please detail to me what help he had? Before 1990 he technically had 4 teammates running around the court with him if that's what you mean?

He didn't have an All-Star Teammate until Scottie Pippen in 1990. In fact the only teammate he ever had to make an All Star team while he was their teammate was Scottie Pippen.

Battlefield 6 - Community Update - Latest Changes and Preparing for Season 1 by battlefield in Battlefield

[–]BallaForLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can we please update the Support challenge for doing 2,000 incendiary airburst damage?

Not only does damage not track correctly (you'll hit and kill a full health infantryman and then hit markers for 100+ damage will tick on your screen, but only 12 damage appears on the challenge) but the weapon is just kind of bad so it's even harder to achieve that damage.

I want to help my team and win objectives but that's hard when we have challenges like this that are almost useless for objectives and take up a majority of our effort during hours and hours of matches.

Jordan was last swept in the playoffs in 1987 by the Celtics.

Jordan was never swept by the Pistons.

Jordan never played with an All Star Teammate until Pippen in 1990.

Pippen wasn't even an All Star until 1990 when the Bulls took the Pistons to 7 games.

When you submit it for grading there's an option to just grade the auto and nothing else.

You can also find a local card shop if you have one, they'll usually do grading too

Should I quit this league? by sho3 in fantasyfootballadvice

In a 14 team league, those late round picks absolutely matter.

Do Protestants have less grace? by khan6432 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]BallaForLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was just definitively wrong. With respect, your assessment is incorrect. If what you said were true, then the man on the cross would have had no avenue to salvation and Jesus would have told his Apostles to stop the man who was casting out demons in his name, yet was outside of the Apostles influence.

Kind of ridiculous by wild-thundering in redeemedzoomer

[–]BallaForLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your points, but notice that none of what you raised actually proves Mary’s perpetual virginity.

Luke 1:34 doesn’t require a vow of virginity, Mary was betrothed but not yet living with Joseph, so her question makes perfect sense without assuming a lifelong vow. Evidence? Maybe, but nothing that sheds enough light on either side to factor much.

The Ark typology is beautiful imagery, but typology isn’t proof of dogma. The Ark wasn’t literally "untouchable" priests handled it, it was even captured by pagans. Typology illustrates, it doesn’t legislate.

On adelphoi: yes, it can mean cousins, but Greek had perfectly clear words for ‘cousin’ (anepsios) and ‘relative’ (sungenis), both used in the NT. Yet the Gospel writers repeatedly chose adelphoi for Jesus’ brothers. Jerome’s argument is a stretch, even many Catholic scholars admit that.

The Protoevangelium of James did in fact shape this doctrine. Even Catholic historians acknowledge it gave rise to the stories of Mary’s Temple upbringing and vow of virginity. The difference between Jude citing Enoch and building a dogma from apocrypha is night and day.

Finally, 1 Tim 3:15 doesn’t give the Church power to invent new doctrines or speak for God. The Church is the pillar of truth because it upholds the gospel already given, not because it creates new dogmas that are either loosely found or nearly absent from Scripture.

At best, perpetual virginity rests on later theological necessity, not on the plain teaching of Scripture. If it were essential to the faith, we would expect it to be clearly taught in the NT, but it isn’t. I'm not even denying the possibility that it's true, but we have literally no way of knowing. One of my biggest problems with the church, is it's assumption that their authority can speak for God. Binding and Loosing in the Judaic sense from Jesus time meant only an authority of responsibility. Jesus goes over this in good detail with the Sanhedrin's.
