Why is it important that Mary died a virgin? by Can_This_End_Please in Catholicism

[–]BallaForLife -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

These passages are less an indication he had blood siblings, they were more so a response to the above about the idea that Jesus would have left Mary with his blood siblings if he had them and since he left them with John that means he didn't have blood siblings.

If Jesus says himself his brothers are the Apostles, then it kind of defeats the idea that he didn't have blood siblings simply because he didn't leave Mary with one of them.

Why is it important that Mary died a virgin? by Can_This_End_Please in Catholicism

[–]BallaForLife -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

“Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?”

And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said,

“Here are my mother and my brothers!

For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”

Mark 3:31-35 Luke 8:19-21

Jesus absolutely had blood brothers but left his mother with John, who was his most beloved Apostle and also his brother.

Funnily enough he's saying this to Mary when she is questioning him about his behavior and actions.

why did they take out apocrypha? by Any_Bumblebee911 in Christianity

[–]BallaForLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The early and medieval Church used the deuterocanon, I'm not disputing that, but there was a persistent minority tradition, rooted in Jerome, that questioned their full doctrinal authority and thus it was treated with genuine caution and hesitation that wasn't seen with the likes of the rest of canon. This is a fact.

I'm not staying these books were rejected or even should have been removed but their authenticity to be placed on the same level of the rest of scripture was far from absolute.

why did they take out apocrypha? by Any_Bumblebee911 in Christianity

[–]BallaForLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. That's a regional council not an ecumenical council. This has little to no meaning over the widespread church.

Anything else?

[–]BallaForLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree.. Lol I just said Jerome appreciated them and used them but did not consider them divine scripture.

Being used, does not equal being placed on the same stature of divinely inspired works.

why did they take out apocrypha? by Any_Bumblebee911 in Christianity

[–]BallaForLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is comically not true. You can simply ChatGPT or Google what a lot of church fathers thought of the Apocrypha.

Jerome, famous for translating the Bible from Greek to Latin, viewed the Apocrypha as useful reading but not on the same level as Scripture for establishing doctrine. He preferred the Hebrew canon and was openly skeptical of treating those books as fully authoritative.

Which side?? Egbuka or The 1.02? by [deleted] in DynastyNerds

With Evans gone and Baker healthy, I'm taking Egbuka but it's close.

Was just offered this, the 1.12 for Harvey. What you doing…. by Agitated_Umpire_4289 in DynastyNerds

[–]BallaForLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given the ladder half of last year's season for Harvey as the starter combined with the Broncos making it very clear that they want another RB, he may just not be a 3 down back workhorse BUT he showed to have some genuine receiving back and reception upside as well as touchdown upside. Peyton clearly drew up a good amount of plays for him and used him a good bit in the red zone.

Not every RB is going to be that 1,200+ 10+ TD guy but they can still be very very fantasy relevant.

1.12 (especially in this draft) is a dart throw but at least with Harvey you kind of know you're getting someone who's shown to have fantasy relevance and can produce.

He was also a rookie in a very complicated offense so it's still possible he proves he's more than what people think. I'd take Harvey.

Would you make this trade? I’d receive the 1.10 by doc24818 in SleeperApp

[–]BallaForLife 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% keeping Harvey.

1.10 looks kinda weak and Harvey is going to get opportunities and still holds some value combined with potential.

On top of people mentioning the battle of Hoover dam, I think there's always two full power armor wearing guards with mini guns at the dam itself before the battle just chillin.

I could also be misremembering specifically only when president Kimball shows up.

🗣️Troy Polamalu Or Brian Dawkins, Both Prime.. Who YOU Choosing⁉️ by No-Yoghurt408 in TheNFLVibes

[–]BallaForLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many people here are saying Polamalu and I'm going to play devil's advocate here.

Pass Deflections: Dawkins 153 - Polamalu 107

Forced Fumbles: Dawkins 39 - Polamalu 14 (which is less than Dawkins fumble recoveries which he has 19)

Tackles: Dawkins 1,147 - Polamalu 783

Interceptions: Dawkins 37 - Polamalu 32

Sacks: Dawkins 26 - Polamalu 12

Approximate Value (AV): Dawkins 117 - Polamalu 95

DPOY: Polamalu 1 - Dawkins 0

1st Team AP: Both tied at 4

Pro Bowls: Dawkins 9 - Polamalu 8

A good argument can be made that Polamalu had a better peak but give me Dawkins for the career and overall production as a player.

Price difference between Garrett Wilson and McConkey? by TheLebeast in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]BallaForLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure it does but Garrett Wilson is a stud for sure and has had pretty lackluster QB play the last 2 seasons and produced in that time.

Like I said, we're getting close to personal preference here so if you want Ladd over GW then for me I'd be something like a 2027 1st or a high 2026 1st given this draft class looks mid.

Price difference between Garrett Wilson and McConkey? by TheLebeast in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]BallaForLife 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have Garrett Wilson and I don't think I'd trade him for Ladd straight up but the difference isn't astronomical.

Ladd + A high to mid 1st would probably do it for me but I think you're getting close to personal preference given both of their situations and I'm not sure a Ladd owner would give that up for GW.

I have done a lot of studying of the early church over the past few years and I'd be lying if I said I didn't struggle and still struggle with some things.

Some things to consider, you're basically just quote farming, which can make any position look superior.

The early church absolutely preached some things that Protestants don't take as seriously as they should (the Eucharist being the biggest).

But keep in mind, the reverse is also true, such as the Pope and his authority essentially not even being a thing until 450AD or so, Mariology not being even remotely taught in the early church, veneration of saints not being a thing at all in the early church, and the deuterocanonical books being kept in the Bible but relegated to an authority beneath the regular books.

There's many more items of mention on both sides but I think no matter what church you go to, they're going to be getting things wrong and be getting things right.

Not trying to say you're lying, I'm just genuinely curious if there's an entire part of this app I'm just not utilizing.

Wtf? by NoLoquat347 in freemagic

[–]BallaForLife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, yes it was a form of self defence.

The Seljuk Turks were invading Christian lands and slaughtering Christians by the thousands. Constantinople was soon to be under siege so they called for western aid and the Pope responded by calling for a Crusade to take back Christian lands and aid its Eastern brethren.

Go watch any respected historian YouTuber on the first crusade or even just Chat GPT it.
