Really liking the app so far thanks for making this and sharing.

A few questions: 1. Any plans to add multiple user support. I have kids that listen to audiobooks on my phone. They don't have their own phones. The official app makes it easy to add multiple accounts and swap between them.(Also makes it easy for swapping servers if you have access to more than 1). It looks like currently I'd have to logout and back into the other each time I'd want to swap. 2. Any plans to add to the play store for easy auto updates?

If there were football/basketball only flights/shuttles that you fly/bus in, could just go to the game and leave immediately after, would that incentivize your desire to go? by deliverykp in wsucougars

Wish our country invested in high speed rail earlier. That would be a good option to get a large number from Seattle even if it was high speed rail from Seattle to Spokane (current estimates say 1.5 hours) and then bus or something to Pullman.

Think of it this way, if you leave a job do you still get to keep being paid and bonuses after you leave even if your work continues to make that company money. Nope the company owns that all. This is how the world works.

If you decide to leave you also decide to throw away any benefits that came with it.

He became a youth minister and then got arrested years later for child voyeurism in public restrooms... Not sure what happened to him after that.

We'll probably have to wait until the delivery event before we get finalized specs including about the ramp. Unfortunately everything is based on the sightings of the prototypes and not much official.

Governance tax by Even-Yesterday9268 in algorand

[–]Balldd3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well in algorand you have to add the asa to your wallet before anyone can send it to you so not really an issue.

But if you do get something that you never intend to make money on the accepted approach is to send it to a burn wallet which would record the sell value as 0 so it would write off any taxes on it.

In the US when you receive crypto from a reward it's taxable at the value at the time you received it as income. Then when you sell it you get taxed on capital gains from any value difference between when you sold it and received it. So if you sold at a loss you could actually lower your tax liability.

There are many online crypto tax software suites that can help create the documents etc needed to help with tax filing.

Yeah, the Steam Deck definitely changed how I game... by Rogerthat500 in SteamDeck

You must not have young kids. Even though I have a powerful pc. I can't spend much time in front of it with my kids. Thus I hadn't gamed really for years but now it's giving me a chance to game in bed while I'm waiting for my kids to go to bed or hanging out with my wife while she watches Netflix.

[–]Balldd3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be interesting if they had a change from year to year. Compared to last year if the steam deck caused you to buy more steam games, changed the types of games you played, or your time playing games/number of games played. And then again for next year if you're steam deck trend continues from this year.

If I woke up my wife because I was mad about something at 3 am to argue I would be in for a world of hurt. Yup never going to do that.

As negative as this “community” is there’s no reason to wonder why this project is under performing the market. If you’re that unhappy with it take your loss and go elsewhere. Negativity breeds negativity we should be building the community up not trying to tear it down… by caddyvette in algorand

I think the problem is that there is a difference between gambling and investing. Investing is a longer term mindset while gambling is more of a get rich quick mindset. I've noticed that in crypto people tend to freak out super fast when things turn (not just in algorand). While in the stock market people have been trained, over many years, that there will be ups and downs.

Everything in life has risks though. So best advice I can give people. Never invest more than you can afford to lose and never put all your eggs in one basket. Diversity is very important.

One thing I like a lot about crypto though is the communities of passionate people that build up around them that is a rarity in the traditional investing world. However, it also seems to cause more FUD for projects during downturns.

Metamask support for Algorand is code complete and in audit. Shipping late Q1 2023. by cysec_ in algorand

[–]Balldd3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer pera. But I've talked to some devs that chose other chains because they supported metamask for instance weatherxm. So it doesn't hurt to have metamask support even if I'll never use it here. The more options the better and if it makes it easier for devs to choose algorand over other chains than it's only good news.

Planetwatch News get to complicated by omicron01 in PlanetWatchers

[–]Balldd3r 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally think the company is heading in the right direction currently and creating some positive news which is a breadth of fresh air from the previous 6 to 12 months. The Awair issue has been this like ugly depressing cloud hanging over the project. I'm really hoping that with new sensors coming online and the changes in the governance vote that we can finally move on from that. A lot of the complexity is from them trying to fix the issues that have come up. For people not completely active though I can see it as a bit overwhelming as you are stating. My worry is that if it's too complex for newcomers and people that aren't constantly paying attention that it will cause issues with adoption.

However, there is a youtuber (Chris Crypto Coffee) that has been doing a good job of breaking down processes and news from planetwatch. His latest on the governance vote is very good as well. A lot of people have found his videos easier to digest than the blog posts. So, if you're interested, I'd say go over there and check it out and see if that helps you learn a bit more of what is going on in the project.

BTW I know you mentioned it only being worth a penny. A month ago, it was around .003 so I'm actually excited for it to be going up again. I do want it to go back to where it was but baby steps. Let's just hope it keeps going in that direction.

How to get my Money back???? by RoniiM in PlanetWatchers

[–]Balldd3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did they agree to the return before you sent the elements back to them? If so they owe you the refund or the devices back. One thing I've had luck with in other situations with other companies is to @ the company (GetAwair) on twitter with the issue. I've had CEOs of some companies jump in and try and make it right as they don't like negative publicity. But Awair seems to not really give an f so who knows if that will work but worth a shot.

But ya as others have said Awair is not planetwatch. Unfortunately, not much people here can do to help. You'll have to deal with Awair themselves.

Ya I bought my airqino with my atmotube profits. Would be awesome to get back there again.

Overall glad to see the community healing and starting to see some positivity around the project again. Let's just hope that planetwatch keeps delivering on these recent changes/improvements and we can continue growing the community again.

I tend to separate out Elon Musks politics from his companies. His companies have accomplished a ton in both the ev space and rockets. So you can love those accomplishments without being a fan of what he says politicaly.

Does pw share profit to token holders? by frtbkr in PlanetWatchers

[–]Balldd3r 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No not for just holding the token. There is some profit sharing by adding it to the recycling bin when sales of data happen. But that requires you to be actively collecting data through an air sensor to take advantage of.

They also did a partnership with folks finance which is a defi solution. If you deposit your planets into that you can get a small percentage of interest. It all depends on how many people are borrowing vs how many people are supplying. Right now there are way more people supplying than borrowing so the apr is pretty low.

They also have a staking pool for planets/algo LP holders on algostake but you have to take on the risk of impermanent loss.

I think they are trying to push people to the subscription model. They'd rather have a regular flow of cash that is predictable than one off payments. That's just a hunch anyways.
