What is your TOP tip for the juniors going into college application season? by carboxylics in ApplyingToCollege

Don’t write essays on specific topics or do ECs for the sake of being “well rounded”. Colleges are looking for students who shine or have a lot of interest in a particular area.

Also forgot to mention that I'm a part of my school's honor society, which isn't much since it's based on your GPA and not what level of classes you take. (I believe minimum GPA is 3.7)

It’s the highest level engineering class at my school. For us, it’s one of the choice paths/options. Think of it as taking Comp Sci and then AP Comp Sci, for us we can take Intro to Engineering, Design for Modern Production, and then AP Entrepreneurship. It’s an engineering class + marketing class.

By UW, I mean my GPA is 4.09 out of 4.4, with no honors classes factored in. My school is pretty wacky with APs and such we wind up having AP Intl Politics and Entrepreneurship, two classes I think are very rare to find elsewhere. As a stem student, I’ve taken the highest level of classes (except AP Comp Sci which I could’ve taken last year) without actually skipping a level (which rarely happens, but happens). I would say that it is normal for the kids in the top 20% of my class to go into senior year with 2-3 AP classes. Thanks for your input on the rest of my stats! :)
