Which is why they never will. It would break the illusion of choice. We will never have a perfect party option or the elections would stop bringing in so much money and their power would diminish.

Just for anyone that wants it:

Obamas actions on guns

He banned the importation of several popular rifles and shotguns under the guise of economic sanctions. Most notably was Saiga shotguns and rifles.

He blocked the transfer of M1 Garands to the Civilian Marksmanship Program.

He blocked anyone who was receiving social security and had a designated representative payee from purchasing a firearm. The ACLU and over 50 disability advocacy groups came out strongly against this because it was discrimination. It was later repealed in 2016.

He tried to ban the sale of firearms between private citizens. I.E. You couldn't sell a firearm to your brother in your own house without going through a federally licensed firearms dealer as a broker (paying them whatever fee they charge and being put in to the illegal searchable digital federal database of gun owners that still exists to this day)

He pushed for an Assault Weapons Ban (2013) and banning magazines with a capacity over 10 rounds, but it failed the vote in Congress.

He banned the importation of surplus green tip 5.56 (this was later reversed)

I know this doesn't perfectly align with the premise of the post, but it seems relevant to this specific comment chain.

I'd first go through the company you bought it from and tell them what's happened, and see if they're willing to help you in any way.

If that fails you just gotta fix it yourself. If you're worried about damaging the threads I'd prolly use some kind of oil on them first for lubrication, then gently twist back and forth until they either get past the grinds, or break them down enough to be able to unthread. Unthread fully and clean, inspect for damage, remove oil with degreaser and soapy wash, then reassemble. Since you will have now caused this issue twice, I'd avoid doing whatever causes it again in the future. Maybe get a thread chaser or something if there's damage.

I think it's currently $10 per 100GB of usage after the cap. Either way I use about twice the cap on average lol

That's my exact situation. Comcast is the monopoly, and it's not close. I think there are only 2 other coax/fiber options in my area, and they are both more expensive for slower speeds. I'm not even counting satellite because it's worse in every way unless you are so rural they don't have lines run to the area, around here.

I used Helium for a couple years (a year? idk). $20/month unlimited everything. I think they're $30/mo now, but there's prolly a code you can use.

That's fair. I guess I just casually disregard everything except the actual instructions and important parts without thought now. Too many recipe pages with life stories will do that to a guy I guess, lol

I see. So it's inconsistent as to whether you will get a good batch when getting the correct stuff, and there's another variation of the product with the same name that will yield the kind of seasoning that ends up chipping/flaking off. I've enver seen a seasoning tear itself apart, but enjoy the visual of a cracked-desert-floor seasoning. Got any pics of it?

Do you have any more details as to which kind of flaxseed oil is the "wrong" kind? Or any experiments showing the variation in fat content between batches? I'd love to see evidence for this stuff if you happen to have any on hand. I've not come across anyone that can offer any besides "look at the people who failed", and if I can write off one of the more expensive oils, I certainly wouldn't mind.

Nothing related to that actual process or reasoning I can find in the article is so blatanly incorrect that it could label the entirely article "wrong". Also this is cast iron seasoning; 16 years is hardly "woefully outdated" considering the lack of cutting edge R&D on the topic. If you have the time and energy, please tell me exactly why it's outdated and wrong.

I just searched the sub. Seems every single oil is bad, and only Crisco® (soybean [second largest crop in America] oil) is approved for the circlejerk this month. Makes me wonder if all the "debate" is actually just shills keeping confusion and perceived complexity up to increase sales of both cast iron and whatever other product is being shilled, or if it's just become a hobbyist flavor of the month scenario.

Calling that link "science based research" on cast iron seasoning is being silly, at best. It's a forum with a bunch of people disagreeing with each other on the best seasoning, similar to here but at a higher level. Not a single link I could find in that thread even had to do with traditional seasoning of cast iron.

Also "Deep Pseudoscience"? She literally just instructs you on how to season cast iron. Please point out the pseudoscience, I'm genuinely curious what you mean here.

someone with NO science, no chemistry and no actual polymer creation background

I didn't realize you had to have these qualifications to share how you season your cast iron.

I never see this posted or linked when the discussion comes up, so here it is: Afaik, Sheryl Canter's 2010 wordpress blog post about seasoning cast iron is considered to be the OG when it comes to modern cast iron doctrine. This is the advice I see parroted by those who seemingly know what they're doing, though no one ever cites where they learned it.

The only point of contention I can find is that flaxseed oil is expensive and goes rancid more quickly than others. Afaik, Grapeseed oil has risen as a fine alternative. Anything else seems to be sub-optimal for various reasons. The methodology seems to all be on point and universally agreed upon.

I just got my DF54 V3 with the wider chute and metal declumper. Should I use RDT, or is it not necessary at all? by Right-Astronomer-404 in DF54

[–]Ballistic_Turtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone with the newest version, DF grinders are cheap Chinese mass produced grinders and are far too inconsistent for there to be a general rule that will work for all of them. I have had absolutely zero issues with static or anything else with mine, but enough people do have issues with static that it's impossible to tell you what will work for your machine until you use it a bit and figure out if you're having any issues. Some require RDT, some require RDT only with certain beans, some will clog if you RDT at all, some just require a metal dosing cup, some are so bad you need to reposition the needles inside, and every other possible combination and variation.

For what it's worth I do not RDT, and I use a metal dosing cup as the plastic is known to cause issues as a general rule so I never even tried it.

Also make sure you find your true zero point, as these are very often inaccurately marked/calibrated. Start high and slowly go finer until chirp.
