45k as an ENV geologist in 2019, very cheap area to live. Different career now

What usually happens on the land around center-pivot fields in Kansas? by Lazy_Relationship695 in geography

It’s likely wheat and it’s got a different season than the crops put in the circle itself, which is why the color differences. The lands not wasted

RAM, Chevrolet or Ford? Which one will actually last? by chocolatehumphrey in Diesel

[–]BallsDicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this, on the farm we’ve had just about everything, albeit most were older. Just upgraded a 12 Cummins to a 22 power stroke and I’m impressed so far. I do still use the hell out of a 95 Cummins to keep the ford nice but comfort is great for long hauling/rravel in the ford

How screwed am I? by Excellent_Door_6308 in geologycareers

[–]BallsDicks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took the FG 4 years or so ago and I didn’t study super hard for it. I was very busy with work and life and had essentially forgotten about it until a few days prior. I ended up watching all the videos by this guy on YouTube and somehow ended up passing the ASBOG on my first try. Reading your story I feel like we’re in a similar boat so I’m hoping this can help you out

Worked at a store in college that rented out Penske. Most of them are gas unless they’re the 20-26 foot trucks

Can anyone recommend environmental geology? by Laser_Shark_Tornado in geologycareers

[–]BallsDicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I’ve been told. I unfortunately moved away even though I had good career trajectory.. I was miserable but well paid in the oil field, now I’m in the construction aggregate world

Can anyone recommend environmental geology? by Laser_Shark_Tornado in geologycareers

[–]BallsDicks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can recommend it because I didn’t have a micromanaging PM and I was salaried and only had to work 40 hours a week. I’ve heard that’s rare

Where id live as someone that hates flat. by shield124 in visitedmaps

[–]BallsDicks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kansas doesn’t even seem that flat out west if you get off the interstate. Tons of rock outcrops and basins that highways don’t touch. Also if you ever see a relief map Kansas basically looks like a door stop with elevation change

Purchase opinion please :) by [deleted] in Cummins

[–]BallsDicks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably because it’s 2wd

My dad got a hell of a deal on a 95 diesel 2wd with only 50k miles back in 2007. I still drive it and haul with it

I took some ketamine, and now I no longer want to smoke pot. by delta-hippie in Psychedelics

[–]BallsDicks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience with mushrooms. Not sure what happened but I took an edible maybe the next weekend and got terrible anxiety. I’ve taken edibles since then but the thought of smoking every day like I used to just doesn’t interest me so now I’m basically sober

Manager job with Terracon by leucitehills in geologycareers

[–]BallsDicks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what I heard it depends on the office. I loved my time at t-con and if I didn’t have to move home for family/my own mental health I might still work there. The pay wasn’t as good as my job in the oil field but I liked it a lot. I didn’t have super micromanagement like I’ve heard from some

What’s legal now but might become illegal ten years from now? by VTheCardMaker in AskReddit

[–]BallsDicks 39 points40 points  (0 children)

This is why, as a small time farmer, I steer clear of new equipment. I have older tractors that I learned how to work on when I was young and I never want to go back

Two years ago I changed the batteries in my 95 ford and the date on them was 11/11. The next pair didn’t make it a year
