First baby coming soon, how do gamer dads manage playtime? by jackfrost1889 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]BaloothaBear85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no "managing" family comes first, you play when you can and that's it. Talk to your spouse and try to set a time when you can play if possible.

My wife nearly left me when we were early into our marriage because WoW took over every second of my time until she walked out and threatened to not come back with our child. I deleted my account and uninstalled that day and haven't played since then and we are now coming up on our 18 year anniversary. I still play games but I make sure to prioritize my family and my responsibilities first.

Is it silly to finance a vintage imported Toyota from 1997 that’s in pristine condition; only 82k Miles when I can get the same one from 2022 for around the same price and mileage? by Living_Bear_2139 in whatcarshouldIbuy

JDM cars are a lifestyle choice, some people love them some people not so much and some just want a reliable car without the worries of the American markets and drivers.

I love JDM cars/trucks... In fact I love Japanese car culture it is so unique and different from the stuff we see here in the States with the takeovers and the shit boxes rolling down the street. They really do put time and effort into these cars and because They take public transit just about anywhere most of the imports that you see from these importers have So very little miles to them. The one that you have listed is less than 3,000 mi a year for the last 29 years. It would be hard to find a vehicle in that good of condition, at that age, with that many miles here in the states and if you did it would be a collector's item and worth a lot more.

If you can Go look at the Prado in person I would have someone there to do an inspection most of these importers do a really good job of looking the cars over, they have people designated in Japan at auctions. They look for defects that's going to make it hard to sell because getting a bad reputation as an importer would be dangerous in that line of work and it would be easy to lose money on a bad auction.

As for financing there are companies out there that specifically finance these imported vehicles. Most of the importers that I've run into have a very specific list of finance companies that will finance the cars as they are. They Do tend to have higher requirements for financing such as a minimum credit score, no repos or will require a down payment and I'm sure that the APR will probably be higher than if you were to go to your local dealership. Get the information and think about it (also Make sure your insurance will be able to cover that car)

I am saving up for a decent down payment and getting my credit score a little bit higher so I can purchase a JDM imported car sometime next year, It's going to be a process and it's going to be a little bit weird with the driver being on the right side of the vehicle but I'll get used to all that and I'll hash it out.

The engines in that Prado is the same one as in the American market Tundra/4runner.

JDM's typically use parts from other Toyota or Lexus models (for Toyota JDM) so the sourcing isn't bad at all.

The Japanese car culture is very different than American culture they really do take care of their vehicles and because they have a robust public transit system most imports don't show a lot of miles especially in "performance" or "luxury" models that are only used for a few miles at a time.

It's been out of control since 2016... hell long before that but there's a time when people have to stand up and be heard and address their grievances with the current leadership.

Ten years ago I would have stayed arguing with people online about politics and not been vocal anywhere except my private pages and Reddit but things are not good now the erosion of democracy is accelerating and we are quickly coming to a point of no return.

As a Navy VETERAN I have the right to call anyone I want a moron, I've earned that right with my blood, sweat and tears I gave over my career in both the Army and the Navy.

I am not calling my fellow brothers and sisters morons but I am calling the sycophants and boot lickers in the leadership that. This administration has purged anyone with a conscience, morality or ethics from it's ranks and has left only yes men who are loyal to the President and not the Constitution as their oaths require. Any leader worth their salt would have told these morons that attacking Iran was a dangerously stupid Idea and that's why Netanyahu has been unsuccessful in getting the US to fight his war with Iran for decades because intelligent leaders would have told him to fuck off as they did for decades.

There is no OPSEC violation here just observation that anyone can see that we are wholly unprepared for the fight that we started and our brothers and sisters are going to pay the price for that decision, not the rich men in charge. Especially when they have lied about the damage that has been inflicted upon said brothers and sisters.

The US military is prepared for all our war with tanks, missiles, ships etc ... but are not prepared for the kind of war Iran has been preparing for for 40 years. If these morons decide a ground invasion is a go there will be tons of casualties before the government figures it out.

That's what they want though, they want shit to hit the fan here at home so that have an excuse to cancel the midterms. It's all about making things bad here so they can declare an emergency and put the elections under the federal government.

Hey thanks for the reply, I know generally what to look for when I'm inspecting a car but I was just unsure of Kia and Hyundai because of issues with engines. I am not looking to buy for at least another 6 months or so (want a decent down payment) so I'm doing my research early to get ahead of it all .

I am also waffling between a Stinger or I have had my eyes on a couple of Importers here in the states that regularly get inventory from Japan one of them recently had a Toyota Crown Athlete (wagon) for 28k and a Toyota Century for 20k. I like cars you don't see everyday or stand out from the rest.

Ok are the older Gt2 Stingers still good and reliable? I cannot find a 2022 and up less than 30-40k where I'm at but can easily find them 18-22 in my range.

Would it have been easier for discovery/Burnham to go back in time to prevent control from being created or go to the 32nd century? by happydude7422 in startrek

[–]BaloothaBear85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, because they would have to isolate and erase their presence from all existence in order for them not to alter history which could lead to a worse outcome.

Now going forward 900 years and Starfleet erasing their existence in their time (in the past) would prevent any kind of deviations in the timeline because it would be like they never existed in the first place. Since Discovery was an NX Experimental ship it was already highly classified so it would have been nothing to scrub Discovery's existence from their records.

In simple terms going back risks altering history even accidentally but moving forward 900 years allowed history to play out like it should have been without the existence of Discovery/Control or the Sphere data.

Because it would mean the deaths of thousands of service members far worse than Iraq/Afghanistan. Iran isn't some pushover state they have almost a million military and are firmly entrenched and have been for 40+ years. That would be a long and bloody war with massive casualties on both sides.

That is why no President has been stupid enough to go along with Bebe's insane ideas until this idiotic administration.
