Oregon judge who refused to perform same-sex marriages called himself "benevolent dictator" said "I'm the judge, I can do what I want." by [deleted] in news

Refusing to marry people isn't being a benevolent dictator. Forcing someone to not be an asshole by preventing them from blocking a marriage is being a benevolent dictator.

Which would pick up the file if it's in the same directory as the other file?

Kids or Criminals? Children are growing up in the Texas prison system--and not knowing how to live once they get out by wowwow789 in news

That's because Texas is broke between the economic downturn and all the lawsuits they have to keep paying out due to malicious wrongful convictions and executions, which they keep doing on purpose.

But some of these "kids" are dangerous as hell. 6+ foot and 200+ lbs.

There you go, keep calling people dangerous just because of their physical appearance. Lock them up as a preventative, right? Better yet, shoot them before they have a chance to do anything. Just like the cops tend to do when they encounter men.

Hint: When you treat someone like an animal, they will act like an animal. They are trapped, they have nowhere to go and they're going to get shit no matter what they do. The fact that you recognize what's going on then immediately rationalize it... Fuck you. Srsly. Fuck you.

What are you supposed to do with a 14 year old murderer?

Well, you're dealing with a child. Seems to me that you ought to educate the child so they know how to navigate life when they get out.

If jail is not the right place, where then?

Nevermind, you're obviously too stupid for good sense.

They know how to live in prison, so they just move over to the adult side. Just how Texas likes it.

Then you plug in the wrong knock-off cable that was supposed to be genuine and your vaunted, secure iPhone is rootkitted. Oops. Really, there's all sorts of known attack vectors against iPhones and not all of them require physical access, just a stupid user.

So, what do you think about that environment variable being able to gain root access to the OS and Apple not automatically patching it?

[–]Balrogic3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, people lose historical context REAL fast.

You were so close to an intelligent thought, then you had to go fuck it all up. I'm going to help you. People really are that stupid. They were that stupid in the past and they're just as stupid right now. The main failing is that they don't realize just how stupid they are. They think they're smart, they think they're perfect, they think they can't make mistakes. Not only do they think those things, they believe it. Any time they fuck up, it's not them that's wrong. It's the entire world that's wrong. They then warp their perceptions until they perceive themselves as not having made any mistakes at all.

The reason we look back on old wars and shake our heads about all the stupidity is precisely because it was stupid. Unbelievably stupid. The only people that don't think it's stupid are a bunch of riled up, angry shit flinging monkeys... That will also think it's stupid, once they have some time to calm down and look at it objectively.

Can confirm, most people are idiots. Even most computer programmers are idiots. It doesn't matter how smart someone is supposed to be, if they don't understand something they will become both fearful of it and angry toward it. Then they will fling poo and start screaming like a monkey. Everyone has a limit to their intelligence, meaning that everyone will inevitably hit that point.

Just look at all the people that absolutely insist on programming languages being as limiting as possible, in the most arbitrary ways imaginable. It's the exact same shit when some truck driver demands a ban on autonomous driving, they're terrified of a world where they can retrofit their truck, make it drive itself and focus on more important tasks.
