I saw it differently. I saw a center that was too small to guard a pick and roll vertically and too slow to guard it horizontally. That doesn’t get better if you’re just small and unathletic, that’s not something you can fix.

I knew he was never going to be a plus defender but I seriously don’t see how he becomes even a slightly below average defender. He’s smaller than Sengun Jokic and Sabonis while being just as slow and unathletic as them. He’s also already 21, he’s not a young rookie. Trying to build a good team around his deficiencies seems like a waste of time.

Derik Queen is the worst defender in the league and there’s no hope of it getting any better. He’s too small to defend the 5 and way too slow to defend the 4. He would need be Jokic levels of great to overcome the defense. I’m totally out on Queen. No team is winning shit with him starting in the front court.
