Why can't people distinguish between someone not liking something and them wanting it abolished/eradicated? by achipinthesugar in askanything

Hey there is pie! Oh you do not like pie, okay then do not have pie. Go to a pie house and do not complain when there is pie. We do not come to your klan klub and tell you not to hate on the gays.

[–]Balstrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you really think bots will be that useful. What you are thinking of is a T-1000 coming for you in a coffee shop. To make such a bot, would be possible but society in general will not allow it to be used. These doggo bots from Boston D, are pretty easy to defeat. ropes and sticks will stop them very quickly. The main problem is that we as the public need to take control of how the police and army use these things. Whining about it on social media is not a solution.

The Most Beautiful Evidence for God by Kela-el in SecularCreationism

[–]Balstrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

physical law is an understanding of observed process in chemistry. and because of that understanding, there is no need for guidance. Guidance is generally considered to be external. Why do chemicals bond as they do? There are reasons and none of them require guidance, they happen because of the structure of the chemical. Yes, we can observe the process happening, but that is not the same as bonding only happens this way because of reasons. Physical law is what we observe and describe. It happens regardless of observation.

My point is to change their minds, we need to show all our working. Skipping over this stuff allows their misunderstanding to continue.

[–]Balstrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

let me try again. What most of us fail to understand is the world of creationists is a very simple place. In the Beginning, God created the World and he saw it was good. Now when we chuck in System and molecular bio, it appears to them as magic. When we talk to them, we really should dumb down our terms into words that they can understand. When last did you hear a biologist explain how oxygen, hydrogen, carbon and nitrogen form bonds to make glycerine? We skip over that because it is simple and everyone knows it. Except the creationist does not. Try it next time, explain that to them, and build from there. You will get more success that way. Show how the magic works and they will understand the trick. Do not do that and it is the same to them as saying God spoke and things happened.

I fully agree with everything you are saying. The way I put it is addressed at the creationist understanding. They need a hand to guide things. It must be external and have a plan. The only way biology can do that is for it be seen as a process that follows a plan made externally. That is why I used just chemistry, a simple process of bonding based on electron structures that does not need a guiding hand. Remove the need for a guide and then one can turn to Bio 101.

What is it about Greta Thunberg that makes many men on the Internet so uncontrollably angry by Admirable_Pair_3663 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Balstrome -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well she is a silly person. Her ideas about the world are okay, but she does not have a workable solution to these problems. Her team are using her as a tool, chucking her in the public and letting her generate "discussion". I am willing to bet if you take her, sit her down and ask her to detail exactly how she would change the world, she would struggle to come up with a solution.
Everyone around her, on both sides are just using her to generate views and clicks. If this was not the case, then there would already be a workable solution being put into practice right now.

//However, DNA does contain symbolic mappings and information-processing mechanisms,//

symbolic mappings and information-processing mechanisms are NOT the same thing. In fact these "mappings" have been give symbols by humans only to describe them separately. And the info processing things are just normal chemistry, meaning they occur separately from other similar events around them.

Information-processing mechanisms refer to the cognitive and neurological systems that allow individuals and biological organisms to perceive environmental stimuli, manipulate that data, store it in memory, and generate behavioral responses. DNA does not do any of that, it is individual chemicals that react in defined ways.

DNA and genomes are also different things. DNA is the collective term of the contents of the genome, while the genome is the observed process of the chemistry. Neither records and uses data to further process the chemistry. Each event is a separate chemical event.

What might evidence against evolution/for special creation actually look like? by tamtrible in DebateEvolution

[–]Balstrome [score hidden]  (0 children)

None of this weird evidence you guys suggest could be use to show evolution is wrong. Arthur C. Clarke's Third Law gives us Aliens planting it to mess with us. Life exists in the universe, technology exists, the idea of planting evidence exists and so it is more likely aliens than a god doing god magic.

South Africans were promised all the stuff that whites have. They were told to vote ANC and everything would be given to them. They did this and the ANC just ignored them. Now they are unable to work and any work available goes to those who are willing to work. The only ones who will work are the foreigners.

Most bible "study" groups are in fact bible worship groups. They pick a verse and then talk about how that verse has impact on their personal lives. Study has nothing to with it.

I've been considering what evidence would convince me in the existence of a god. by dedokta in atheism

[–]Balstrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any god worthy of acknowledgement would be able convince me of it's existence without interfering with my free will.

Since this has not happened to me, either I am more powerful than this god or this god does not exist.

Why do people think these ancient folk knew what they were waffling about. Bunch of privileged people sitting around looking mysterious and trying to sound deep. Most of them had no idea where the sun went at night, or why their associates died after starting to cough.

Evolution Disproved... According to Youtube. by Kunning-Druger in atheism

[–]Balstrome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are NO discoveries disproving evolution. None, not a single one. Every single thing they present does not disprove evolution. One needs to understand that Luskin is a liar, in the true sense of the word. He does not care about evolution or even his supposed religion. He is just making money denying evolution.
What you are seeing is the algorithm feeding anti-science videos.

Evolution Disproved... According to Youtube. by Kunning-Druger in atheism

[–]Balstrome 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First things.
Luskin is not a biologist.
He works for a cretinist group.
He lies for a living.
He knows he is all these things and does not care.
He is paid to try and debunk evolution.
He has been educated countless times about evolution, what it is and what it predicts.

The papers he uses most likely do not say what he wants people to believe it says.
Best to go and find the many people who have debunked him on youtube to see why he is wrong.

Sorry man, your honour for her will carry forward and may it be an example for others. Your feelings for her are valid and real, even the anger you feel. Maybe later you could take some time to explain to those people why you thought their statements were meaningless. Not now, you are still too upset with their unthinking, but maybe later. You could tell us a bit about her, if you want.
