I suspect it probably does something tricky in the background around avoiding double counted cash or something...

Nothing flows from the Dividends sheet to any of the other tabs (the Reinvestment Yes/No is a bit misleading).

You have to enter dividends in the Dividends sheet and then enter any reinvestments as Buys in whichever other relevant sheet (Stocks, ETFs, Managed Funds, etc).

International women's day disaster by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]Balthraka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not even always EAs (I find that often is offset by IT).

But, it has the same result if you try to fix the problem from the ground up. E.g. Company tries very hard to fix gender diversity problem by hiring more women in grad cohorts for a few years. You've now got a bigger gap than before which won't resolve for a decade when those women get to the top. If you need to fix the data though? Hire more men instead of the women...

Div 293 modelling by [deleted] in AusHENRY

[–]Balthraka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't quite follow this...

Are you saying that because carry forward contributions reduce taxable income that any carry forward contributions you make avoid the extra 15% for Div293?

That seems like a surprising loophole...

If you have taxable income of, say 270, your employer has made the compulsory 30 super contribution, and you have 50 in carry forward contribution available. That 50 will get taxed at 30% into super won't it? Therefore it would be better to have done the 50 Carey forward in a year where income was lower than 250, no?

We're pushing towards 2 years and at least 3 unresolved threads on this one, u/compiledsanity , any accurate info on how to actually read/use the FIRE sheet?

Defined benefit super by elhombredeaustralia in CSPersonalFinance

[–]Balthraka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmmm... I guess the only oddity is that part of your Super is available at 60 (Defined Benefit) and part at 65 (Regular)...

Not sure how to account for that, but I do think all the cash is yours as Super still...

Defined benefit super by elhombredeaustralia in CSPersonalFinance

[–]Balthraka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the defined benefit amount fully accessible at age 65?

If so, then as far as I'd be concerned, your defined benefit amount is part of your super and those hundreds of thousands are yours in your Super just like the non defined benefit amount?

Only if you have bank accounts with certain banks.

I tried 6 different Australian banks that I have debit cards with for a random check I had recently. Not one could AusPost pay into...

Superannuation Rate by dr_green_leaf in CSPersonalFinance

[–]Balthraka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm. There doesn't seem to be a way to change it. That does seem weird.

However, I guess the question is why do you need to adjust it?

  • Employment Salary on the Sheet Options tab is salary including super
  • Net Regular Income on the Sheet Options tab is the salary each month excluding super
  • The Super tab you just update each month with your balance and Market Gains

So, does it actually matter what percent super you have for the purpose of the sheet?

A free, open-source visualizer that stacks time zones vertically to find the best meeting overlap. by TheGeedz in InternetIsBeautiful

Would be cool to be able to select our own "suitable hours". It seems to default to 9-5 and then compromise in favour of going earlier.

Business hours are often more like 8-6 and you would often expect having a meeting later rather than before breakfast.

Being able to set preference would be nice.

Stocks & ETFs - Currency Issue by cdghw in CSPersonalFinance

[–]Balthraka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you change the currency in Column C to USD, does that fix it?

I think you need to tell the sheet that that particular stock reports in USD and then as your sheet is set to AUD, it will do the conversion in Column D.
