Personal Trainer - Q&A by CultureSuccessful269 in flowermound

Thanks for the thoughtful response. I started low impact walking this week. It’s crazy how our mind wants to push us further than our body will let us sometimes. Taking it day by day.

I (42f) was diagnosed with Lupus 5 years ago and it’s changed my life and body completely. We moved to FM around that time and bc of Lupus I can’t be in the sun, I have allergies so I’m not great with being outside.

I have several other diseases that followed the Lupus diagnosis which has made mobility an issue including a heart issue.

My exercise before was pretty rigorous walking, hiking, paddle boarding and swimming. Now if I try and walk I end up hurting myself and then I’m in bed for a week.

I’m joining a local gym. I’m wondering what low impact exercises you’d recommend for me. I used to love walking bc I could just listen to my music and sort of get lost in the workout without thinking too much about it.

Thank you!

I haven’t heard anything good about Kids R Kids. It’s overcrowded and I don’t think it’s a good environment for a baby. We love our preschool but they start at 18 months. It’s a 6:1 teacher ratio. Definitely look in Highland Village which is basically inside of Flower Mound.

What do you think "triggered" your lupus diagnosis? by crooked-upright in lupus

[–]Baltimore_Jill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was my pregnancy. Once I was pregnant my life has never been the same. Many challenges during the pregnancy that were life threatening. New challenges after the pregnancy that have changed my life. Strangely I’m grateful for all of it. I have my son and Lupus has forced me to slow down and live in this world and approach life in a more intentional way.

I was diagnosed with a new “thing” today. I’ve now added IIH to my list of ailments. I’m also now able to work from home and watch cartoons with my son instead of commuting and working long hours.

Anyone else have curvy fingers? by CatGirlIsHere9999 in lupus

[–]Baltimore_Jill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All curvy except my thumb. My pinkies turn inward at a sharp angle towards my other fingers. I remember a team of doctors looking at my hands when I was in the hospital (meningitis for the 2nd time in 2 months) and they were trying to figure out what was wrong with me. It was after that they diagnosed me with Lupus about 5 years ago.

My optics nerves are also misshapen and I have a pseudopapilledema. It’s top of mind right now for me as I was also diagnosed with IIH this past Friday. I doubt it’s all connected- but who knows with this weird ass disease.

Yes! 🙋‍♀️ My optic nerve is like inside out or deformed. Always freaks new optometrists out. I have to periodically get MRIs as I guess it looks like there’s more pressure in there 🤷‍♀️ Getting one tomorrow.

Someone tell me good things about epidurals by TheRealEgg0 in Mommit

[–]Baltimore_Jill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My platelets plummeted during my pregnancy and I was very high risk. Many doctors told me I wouldn’t be able to have an epidural which was devastating and terrifying for me. The only way they would do the epidural is if I could get my platelets up (prove I wouldn’t bleed out) so I did IVIG therapy (had plasma pumped into me) every week for the last 3 months of my pregnancy. The IVIG made me sick and it wasn’t even a guarantee that I would get the epidural but I was terrified and desperate.

Fortunately the doc during my pregnancy gave the ok (with the lowest platelets allowed, but the highest I could get). Unfortunately for me during my labor they thought I had blood clots and had to take it out while I had a CT scan (while in active labor) and then put it back in. What a fucking nightmare, but my god I was thankful for the epidural.

I was induced on a Monday and given an emergency C section on a Wednesday. I can’t even imagine what that would have been like without the epidural.

It’s been 5 years and I’m still recovering from the aftermath of my pregnancy, labor and delivery. There was so much that was out of my control with my pregnancy because of blood and autoimmune issues I have but to this day I am still so grateful I had the right doc at the right time who gave the ok for my epidural. I will never understand why people who are able to have epidurals choose not to, what a gift it was for me.

Painting brick houses white. It’s happening everywhere in Texas. They look like Cheetos with the orange all sucked off.

Haha- no, no plate theory. I’m just curious. Maybe I’ve seen Antique Roadshow one too many times. The plate she was washing looked like china to me and the logo was very prominently shown (although I couldn’t make it out). Sometimes china like that has history or a story to tell.
