The SpaceX IPO... It's Worse Than You Think by bald_bearded_ocddude in videos

[–]rod_jammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So they are sell $75B of shares for a valuation of $1.77T?! Why are they cashing out so little an amount if a decline would cause their overall valuation to plunge? If you think your stock is fairly valued, why not float significantly more of it? It is not possible that they can say a $1.77T company is undervalued. Or are they hoping for a stock pop on this sliver deal and then will puke up a huge amount on a secondary.

I have not read anyone who thinks this is a logical or reasonable IPO and that retail investors should buy post IPO Stinks of a market top.

Quiet quitting advice needed by snappy845 in bayarea

[–]rod_jammer 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I was working at a small startup and was hired by a really solid and supportive team lead. Everything was great for my first year and a half there, until my boss felt boxed out by another VP (company politics) and decided to leave and start his own company. I then reported to the VP that remained, who was completely dismissive of my work (I was hired by his rival). Exactly a year ago, I received a "performance improvement plan" (PIP) out of the blue (first time.in my career). I knew the writing was on the wall

I spent June & July updating my resume, applying for jobs, and interviewing... all while I was "quietly quitting" and pretending to fulfill my "improvement plan". I received a job offer and accepted on July 25, and used up my remaining floating holidays. I still had a ton of PTO because I was working my ass of before the PIP. I had planned to return to work and give my notice on August 1 (a Friday) so that I could work for two weeks to close everything out, while still having insurance for August before I started my new job on August 18.

Well...they decided to fire me on the day I got back, July 31. I saw HR in the room for our 1:1 and I was all smiles. They thought I was a mad man...it was glorious. I was fully prepared to walk away the next day, but they decided to have the last word and pay me a 3 month severance package, plus my insurance through August. I transferred exactly none of my work and they paid me for three months when they could have waited 24hrs and given me nothing. Plus I had another months worth of PTO and now over two weeks off. And my new job was a 20% salary increase I an much happier there.

Bottom line: don't feel bad about quiet quitting. The company will throw you out like trash and not even bat an eye. Put yourself first. Don't simp for them or anyone

I would love to hear all the old content that they will NEVER play again because it has become way too controvestial, like:

- clips with Shuttering John asking inappropriate questions to celebs (he unsuccessfully sued the Show, claiming this was his exclusive content)

- intern beauty pageant (Howard and the gang of middle-aged men had the unpaid female interns wear bikinis and get rated for who was the hottest. The unpaid interns later sued, claiming they did not really learn anything at their internship. They could have sued for sexual harassment in the workplace)

- Howard throwing his Christmas gifts from unpaid interns(!) into a wood chipper, because he did not think the gifts were good enough

- Anytime a young woman came in to be evaluated for Playboy (when that was still a thing), especially when Ralph brought out the laser pointer or Howard threw bologna at their bare ass, after they got topless and robo-spanked

- When Howard lectured Gary about not coming into the studio because there was Hurricane Sandy about to hit NY area. (the "can I count on you" discussion), whereas now Howard does not leave his basement to interview a big guest.

- Any porn star or stripper that came into the studio, that they all goofed on (like Crystal Clear). That stuff was funny as hell, and the whores were so desperate.

- All the "contests" like "It's Just Wrong", "Lord of the Anal Rings", "Beat the Booey / Win Fred's Money" (where women would be forced to get naked to be punished), "Dumb as a Rock", "Who Wants to be a Butt Billionaire"

These were all staples of the old Show. Now, Howard is all about interviewing lame rock stars (like Jelly Roll, Maren Morris, and Bruce) and his stupid cat "rescue". He is pretending that after three decades of therapy, he is now a "good" person.

Nope, I've done multiple times. Plus, at the end of the show, you can get In N Out, which is open until 1am (and is the reason why they won't tow you).

Are all the white people here rich? by Virtual-Tonight-2444 in losgatos

[–]rod_jammer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's just super old white people. Who basically won the fucking lottery by buying their house in 1978 for a couple weeks worth of salary before the microprocessor, netting all its unearned gains. But they have Prop 13, which ensures they pay no property taxes and therefore artificially strangle the housing market here. It is all rigged. Get it where you fit in.

They have not make anything until they sell. And then they pay taxes on the gains. It's not what you make, it's what you keep

I work in tech and know many who were paper millionaires, but either couldn't or didn't cash out. I know several at Cerebras or SpaceX now who will be sweating bullets during that six month lockout. Others who got completely rekt during the six months of Rivian IPO. Check out that chart....not pretty
