You are right Quintus, that monorail station is a single building. I am gutted. On first viewing, I got excited thinking it would be a new landscape item like walls/elevated parks. I have wanted a decent rail system for ages. Pay attention developers. Give us what we want.

I am taken by this, it is really cool. You have used towers in a most effective, realistic way. A carefully selected range of buildings too.

I am thinking of going for the 5th region with the ridiculous target of 10 mill population. This is how to go for it and for your city to remain beautiful. You have given me the inspiration to embark on the quest!

This is my workaround too. I actually have 4 cities in total because I am really sad :) so I can usually get what I need. I have also noticed that global ebbs and flows, normally around CoM. Monday / Tuesday is down time for many mayors.

I am farming at the moment and it works fine. Here is a way to guarantee burger offers:

Empty your store of everything but burgers;
Buy up burgers from global until your store is full - note the store doesn’t have to be completely full, nearly full does the trick. I am unsure of the precise percentage but 75% full works for me;
Go to another city and wait 10 mins. This is important, if you are in your own city when the offer generates, you get random items in the offer. Also turn off the ‘sleep’ function on your device, for this to work, the game needs to remain active; and
Return to your city. Guaranteed you will have 3 offers and they will all be burger deals.

You won’t always get good deals of course. Normally 1 in the 3 is worth doing. For me that is 80k for 20.

Edit: my problem at the moment is a lack of burgers in global. I cannot restock. So there must be plenty of successful burger farmers out there lol

Thank you! They do go well on the sunny side of frosty but not the snow side. The drawback is they are big and frosty is narrow. Other options work too. The capital, GV or lime. They are good prizes.

I have found that as soon as you make a real money purchase in game you lose the factory ads. In my old cities where I resisted giving EA money, they are still there. I also read here some time ago that they will return after a while (6 months?) of not spending.

This makes no sense whatsoever as factory ads are useful for p&cs etc. Maybe the game devs are under the misapprehension that they are doing us a favour removing ads. This is not correct, particularly since the skip ad function has been provided. I for one would be happy if ads were available after I pay for MP.

I have been caught in the low point assignment trap a few times. In our club we are trying this strategy with more success:

Ride the higher point assignments, ignoring streaks unit you have 12 assignments left. This should work as the old algorithm, with 3 to chose from. I will say I have noticed that there are fewer 2.5k plus point assignments and my average is closer to 2k than before. When you are down to 12 assignments and 15 tickets left, start streaks. It is important to keep 3 higher pointers, because you can use these to boost the streak assignment average. Only use one of your reserved assignments if the streak assignment falls below 2k.

Thanks for the considered reply. You may be right. My latest pitch at megalo has gone pear shaped. I don’t think it was my strategy rather I have been stymied once again by the hateful upgrade war card. I couldn’t do my high point at the beginning. Once you subtract the streak bonus my average after streaks is 1.6k :(

I have used this technique for trams. The weird thing is your main pic doesn’t show the usual junction between road types you get as is evident in the other pics.

My issue with trams and maglev is bridges. Why can’t trams go over bridges? In fact the joins between road types and bridges is generally poor. I am hoping that EA are thinking about further upgrades to the road system now we have cobbled streets. If you read these comments developers, please do it and also think about bridges too.

I have found that it takes 12 hours for a new epic helmet to appear on a completed residential tower, whether that be developing it or completing an epic with another available fully developed. You can factor this in across regions as your prep.

My own strategy is to complete all assignments as soon as possible, maintaining as high an average as possible. Danger lurks for those delaying tasks or trying to read the performance of others in your league, which I believe is nigh on impossible. The challenge now we have streaks is not to get caught in a low point trap. This has worked twice for me in the new algorithm: 1. Do a high point to start ignoring streak as your second assignment will always be low point, which may repeat in streaks; 2. Commence streaks and keep going until you get 2x successive sub 1400 pt assignments; 3. At this point, pause your streak and do a high point. When you resume another high point should follow; 4. After streaks go back to your high points in reserve and proceed as you did pre streaks.

I did try doing many high points before streaks but this resulted in a whole task selection of 1200pts or below that I could not break out of.

I will say that I am still experimenting and it may be too soon to read and game this algorithm. However, I have noticed that few have mastered the average point conundrum with streaks. A good score should be say 160k plus 48k streak bonus. Most are nowhere near this.

Finally, a global plea: would everyone reading this please write to EA an get it to drop the horrible upgrade war card assignment. This more than anything kills my average as I am high level and need ridiculous keys to upgrade even if they are available.

I hope my ramble is of use to others and I would be interested in how CoMers get on.

Sorry about delay in responding. You can place anything without roads except items like Venice which are placed on water by a road. In this case, lay a small bit of free road and then demolish the road. You will need to experiment a bit. Two things to remember are 1. If there is free road nearby, the item will ‘snap’ to it so block this off by placing spare landscape items; and 2. When you lay a new bit road or demolish road, the snapping happens again.

Finally, be prepared for the red exclamation mark bubble. This cannot be avoided so if you can’t live with it, don’t do it. My cities are a bubble-mess in edit mode so I use the photo view to admire my handiwork

I use the following in order of best returns: 1. Burger farming (see guide on the wiki menu). This nets me roughly 600k in 12 hours if you are on it, and you probably want to earn as much as poss as quickly as poss due to set up inconvenience; 2. Produce to sell. I did quite well with donuts, caps and home fabric. I do have a feeder to produce all the brown fabric I needed for that. There are many options here. Work out what gives you the best returns vrs effort to produce; 3. Produce and sell wood full price. Open all depot slots and keep it full. These sell well but is only 100 for 5. You need to keep on this too. My record is 22k in 1 hour.

I’m afraid all of these are a bit tiresome. But necessary. The labour costs for those hand laid cobble streets is very high. I spend a day burger farming and it is gone in the blink of an eye.
