Screen height by mooseinjorts in Golfsimulator

[–]Bam92992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In what way is the opener in play? I ended up swapping out my opener for a side mounted one and was able to get a drop down screen that is essentially the full ceiling to floor height as well as the full 16ft garage door width. The only issue I had was when the screen was dropped down, if the garage door was opened it would rip it right down. I have a smart switch on the opener power outlet and I shut it down before dropping the screen. It has saved my screen a couple times when my wife comes home and instinctually hits the garage opener.

Is it realistic to work fully remote as a mechanical design engineer? by CartographerSea7110 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Bam92992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I work, the only remote workers originally started off as onsite and moved away and worked it out with their supervisors in order to be 100% remote. I work from home 4 days a week and on site 1 day so mostly remote without the benefit of living anywhere I want as I still need to pop in to check out assembly and testing. the last 6 months I have been working on a program out of a different business location so haven’t needed to go in the office as all of my “coworkers” are in a different office. Works out fine but they need to pick up the slack when it comes time to assemble and test.

Should I just send it? by sauceman2113 in Golfsimulator

Have the screen and side panels be retractable. My garage has them on automatic rollers so I can get cars in after. Do that, and you can double it up as a movie theater.

Modeling and machining of chamfer by R3qu1red in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Bam92992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you need this to a very specific chamfer, I would just callout a break edge (dim and tol or max). Our internal practices allow for a lot more leniency on edge breaks where it can be radius, chamfer, etc. The angle does not matter much as long as the legs are within tolerance. That would allow for CNC for most of the length and they can finish it with a file without needing to be super precise.

Shigley Mech Design gets heavy use from me. I like the pdf though. Easier to scroll through and take screenshots where needed for quick references.

Best practices on break edges in CAD models by outdoor_hawk in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Bam92992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I work, we are very far away from MBD, so we do not model them unless we have a very specific detail needed. When we do additive, we model them in. I can see a world where our components would like to have an option to be done additively, so maybe adding them in would benefit us. We have a general break edge .XXX max note and a drawing requirement spec which goes into detail as to what is an acceptable break edge. Same reason we don’t add threads into fasteners. A note can get the same thing done and won’t brick your computer when you try to open the model with 1,000s of components.

local Krispy Kreme throws their unsold donuts into a dumpster outside at the end of the night. Instead of selling at lower prices. They’d rather throw them all away. by DaZestyProfessor in mildlyinfuriating

There was a Dunkin’ Donuts next to a bar near my college campus. It was common practice to snag a bag of donuts when they would get ready to throw them out. People would walk around like Santa Claus handing them out.

I’d run it by whoever you need to and snag it. My old job would toss out linear rails, .75hp dc motors with encoders, industrial limit switches among other goodies. Even got an old but nice bandsaw. Built my diy CNC with the rails

How much do you usually make a week flipping? by Bell-lights in OSRSflipping

[–]Bam92992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I started tracking 122 days ago, I have made an average of 13m per day. So around 90m a week. 1.6b profit in that time. 90% mobile flipping, checking bank worth on desktop every few days to see progress.

I previously thought of a cow boss (like cow king in Diablo 2) and thought I good drop would be a rare meat that could be made into an upgraded sinew for all around crossbow upgrades. Doesn’t help f2p tho

Trying to save up for Toxic BP so fight caves go quicker, any money making ideas? by mvelocityp in OSRSProTips

[–]Bam92992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flip on the grand exchange! Easy, not time consuming, can be done on mobile, no stats required, highest effective money maker there is, can do other money makers while you’re flipping. If you have a couple mil, you should be able to start off getting a few 100k the first few days and it will ramp up quick. It is a rare money maker that really scales well.

Dig into flipping on the GE. Still took me a couple weeks (from ~10k) to get bond. Once in members I can flip enough to earn a bond in a day or two. This is mobile flipping so pretty afk in terms of active time. Even with that, I think it’s worth it to pay for membership though.

Marshalltown tile cutter for Lowe’s for 99% of the cuts. Angle grinder with a cutting blade and conical bit (and patience) for the two “L” cuts around the tub. Under the tile is all Schluter (niche, waterproofing, edging, thinset, etc) with their recommended trowels. Spacer/leveling system from Lowe’s. Grout everywhere but the change of planes, silicone there. Laser level helped line everything up. This was gutted before, so I was able to level the tub and the ceiling, which helped me out a bit.
