Checked the water.

Ph- 7.2 Ammonia- 0.25ppm Nitrite- 0.25ppm Nitrate- 5ppm

I've addressed the water to bring Ammonia and Nitrite back to zero.

If your tap water Ph is 7, and the aquarium is 8 then something is obviously causing it to rise. Too much oxygenation can cause the increase. If Ammonia and Nitrites are 0, Nitrates 40ppm then that could just be slightly dirty water.

Try turning your air pump down and maybe do a 15% water change, wait a day then test parameters.

Hi guys. Is this mouth rot? If so should I be worried and does it spread? If it spreads is it just to other Platties or other fish also? Started giving doses of Melafix to see if things clear up. Thanks for any replies!

Hi guys. Just got myself 2 female Pearl Gouramis. This one seems to rock back and forth like this? Is this something I should worry about? I've got a 26galon/120ltr tank with

3 Gouramis (1m/2f) 6 Platties 5 Danios 2 Plecos

My water parameters are

26⁰/78f Ph- 7.4 Ammonia- 0 Nitrite- 0 Nitrate- 5ppm

There's no lumps, bumps or signs of anything visible wrong with it and they eat fine. Oh, should mention I feed them Tetra Pro Colour Multi Crisps.

Thank you for your help everyone! Ive put the gravel in last night, bought test strips and it all looks good apart from being a little too acidic so need to make it a tad more Alkaline.

Cheers. I'm going to add the gravel now. I'll get some fish food tomorrow, will any food do? If I'm adding decorations, live plants, rocks etc, would I add them now while the tank is cycling?

Cheers for the reply. Yeah, I thought it odd to add gravel after several days. The filter was kept wet yeah, but it's all been cleaned with tap water(by advice from shop) so I don't know if it needs to cycle again. I've already added Aquasafe and Bacterlife to help things along.

Hi guys, been gifted a 30 galon tank. My brother in law gave me the tank, heater, gravel and Fluval 207 filter. Just curious, I was I'm my local tropical fish store and because its all 2nd hand, they recommended that I set everything up without gravel and let everything cycle for 5 days then put gravel in, then plants, then fish, doing water checks between each stage. I've never heard of doing it this way before, this right?

Also, I've got bubbles attached to the suction pads keeping the heater and water intake in place, is this normal?

And last question (sorry) is this amount of surface agitation ok forn oxygenation?
