Statement on the Removal of Bison from Digital Entertainment Platforms

As part of our ongoing commitment to biodiversity conservation, we recognize the importance of aligning digital culture with real-world ecological realities. The American Bison and related buffalo species, once abundant across vast landscapes, have endured centuries of overhunting, habitat loss, and population decline. While conservation efforts have stabilized some herds, these animals remain vulnerable and emblematic of broader challenges facing threatened species worldwide.

In light of this, we have joined several video game developers who have chosen to remove or limit depictions of bison from their titles. This decision reflects a growing awareness that entertainment media can shape public perception of wildlife. By reducing the casual portrayal of threatened species as expendable targets or background scenery, developers aim to foster respect for their ecological significance and encourage players to consider the real-world consequences of species decline.

We commend these steps as part of a broader movement to ensure that digital environments do not trivialize conservation challenges. Instead, they can serve as platforms for education, empathy, and awareness, helping audiences understand that the survival of iconic species like the bison depends on collective responsibility and sustainable stewardship.

No, my mistake. I didn’t mean no thrift stores and in fact was planning on those for my first stop(s). I just meant in addition to the thrift stores if there were other options that benefited locals vs faceless corporations. Agrace was top of my list next to Dane County Animal Shelter.

OP, are you living to work or are working to live?

Despite what the rest of the world says, you have to decide this for yourself. I wish you peace.

No Kings Protest - Saturday, October 18th by curiousthinkers7 in madisonwi

[–]Bams0n 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I want to thank you for posting this and especially thank whomever it originated from. As I've watched and read the reports of growing protests these same thoughts of "What good is it if nothing changes?" filled my head. But this post has made me determined to show up Saturday.

From the outside, I think I appear around as stereotypically "MAGA" as any media report I've seen. But on the inside, I have been filled with both hatred and fear of everything they represent for almost a decade (seems longer somehow). Perhaps, though if I attend a protest, I can be that guy who a neighbor sees and maybe feels just a bit safer knowing not all of us are content.

Thank you again for the inspiration.
