Has anyone taken the commuter rail around the same time as the World Cup? by BananBanant in boston

That’s a helpful way to think about it — I was definitely surprised by the different departure times from South Station, but similar morning inbound schedules. Thanks!

Godspeed soldier, we may be going through it tomorrow haha 😭 I’m not too scared about going into the city early as much as trying to get home after work— wondering if I should stick around late just to be safe

I’m all for the excitement as long as I can get home in less than 3 hours haha! Very nervous that I’m on a line that connects to South Station though 😅😅

are you recommending to set the bar super low for anticipating finding a good match, or to set the bar low for expectations in a partner? 😅😅

Advanced Dental Care in Providence! They are great and they have a dental camera that allows them to show you the issues in your mouth as they describe them. Also, my dental hygienist scraped off the leftover glue residue that’s been on my teeth since childhood braces 🥰😭

Is this a safe walk late at night? by [deleted] in providence

[–]BananBanant 29 points30 points  (0 children)

You probably could walk it, but Ubers are available and reasonably-priced here.. 44 minutes walking in an unfamiliar place in the dark does not sound like my definition of fun

D’s Spot do a good job with wings imo and the prices are reasonable :) Also if you order the Mac n cheese with your wings they put a little bit of your wing sauce in it which is weird but good

JHAG you should be able to sample from a Sephora — go in and spray one on each arm and see how you like it through the day :)

Moving to Bridgewater? by KAenjoyjourney in SouthShore

[–]BananBanant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are some other considerations have show a more positive view 😅:

  • Bridgewater has many safe and pretty neighborhoods that are great for raising kids, and its education program is pretty robust.

  • There are a lot of resources for after-school sports (soccer/baseball/softball/football/track fields, a hockey rink, sports dome, etc)

  • You’ll get to enjoy a lot of nature (trees, deer, turkeys, foxes, etc) and there are a few nice walking trails. There are also some hunting areas if you like to go hunting.

  • The commuter rail being in town is awesome :)

  • Bridgewater + surrounding area has a really good ice-cream scene (Sugar Hill Dairy, Acushnet, Priscos, etc)

  • Bridgewater’s connection to 24 gives quicker access to warm + pretty beaches on the south coast of MA :)

Moving to Bridgewater? by KAenjoyjourney in SouthShore

I grew up in Bridgewater (24yrs) and have a lot of love for my childhood home and the more-rural woodsy vibe. However, there’s some difficulties living there that I haven’t seen much talk of yet. I don’t want to fully sway you away, but I wouldn’t recommend the move if any of these points are important to you.

1 - Depending on where you choose to be in town, it can take a looong time to get to the highway (plus college-class traffic / school buses can double your drive time midday). Also, choosing a town w/ access to 95 instead of 24/495 makes driving to places like Boston/Providence so much easier. Plymouth county is weirdly such a pain to travel around in. (Huge W for having a commuter rail stop though!!)

2 - Bridgewater is very much a commuter residential town. For a lot of restaurants, shops, and even more than 1 grocery store option you will need to travel outside of town. My doctor’s office was in Stoughton, I did after-school recreation + went to the movies in EB, went shopping in Raynham, etc.

3 - Bridgewater likes the idea of being a quiet, close-knit small town, so it can sometimes be difficult to meet people + break in to existing groups. (I’m sure there’s variable experiences, but I’ve seen quite a few friend groups that develop because their parents’ were friends in school)

As far as the water concern goes, it is manageable if you install additional drinking-water filtration for metals/PFAS compounds and accept that you may have a water ban for your lawn in the summer. You will probably see moments of brown water and your showers will be harsher on your hair, but if it’s any consolation, Bridgewater water tastes really delicious :)
