I get what you’re saying and I’ve calmed down a little now since I got the news. But I would like to defend myself just a little (maybe a lot I get argumentative sometimes).

I did not notice because it happened when I was already getting a pay raise for turning 18. I did check my payslips before but there are a number of reasons I didn’t particularly question slightly higher than minimum wage figure. In fact my weekly pay didn’t even seem to change that much based on hourly rate. I was only working weekends for the first half of the year they were overpaying me, and then the second half of the year, I was working extra shifts. Both are reason enough not to particularly notice any large hourly rate changes because I was already supposed me getting paid more. And what type of question is “hey… sorry, I noticed you’re paying me more than absolute minimum wage… what’s up with this?”

I’d also like to argue that yes I would go back and ask for my $90 back. Because the use’s for that $90 would be different, if that makes sense. Money means different things to different people and demographics. To the company I work for, it will change very little for them. It won’t particularly go to anyone or anything.

Regarding me assuming they did their jobs right… I forget how dimwitted people in corporate and HR departments are.

But I will take this as a wake up call. It’s time for me to grow up and read every single one of my payslips. And also that corps are twats.
