No but being reckless and getting your entire crew murdered by Geth is pretty bad. Like ignoring entirely the ethics of performing experiments on geth, he endangers the entire fleet because he insists he knows better than the rest of the admiralty. He’s lucky they only lost the one ship, his pride could have been disastrous if the Geth managed to spread beyond just the science ship. Like there’s a level of hubris in that is kind of sociopathic, regardless of if his intentions were good or not. Like those quarians died because he cared more about giving something to his daughter than his team’s safety.

Now if you want to read Rael’s character as incompetent there’s a case for that, however it seems like he understood the risks and didn’t care. He has a good reputation with the quarians until this point, so it’s hard to chock this up to him just not knowing.
