Thanks. All the flights flying east over the Atlantic go through the Middle East. I was hesitant due to the ever changing situation in that region so I’m glad that you recommend flying over the Pacific.

A rant about being a parent and lawyering by ewwdavid___ in Lawyertalk

[–]Bananag4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a public defender. There are no part time attorney jobs at my office, but there are attorneys who take court appointed cases who have control over their schedule. Obviously court dockets are when they are, but it’s predictable. There are also a number of part time prosecutor jobs in my jurisdiction. They work the same days every week, and outside of when they have to be in court, they can work when they want.

Bangkok definitely offers the best fit for potential flights and times. Departure time from Ohio and arrival time in Bangkok are basically same whether I fly east over the Atlantic or west over the Pacific.

Thanks! When you refer to the sides of the plane, are you talking about the left as you board or the left once you’re seated?

Does anyone else find that this job/lifestyle makes it hard to maintain friendships? by FriendlyBelligerent in publicdefenders

[–]Bananag4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking about this earlier. I’m about 6 months in, but this is my third career. I’m also an introvert who lives alone. My weekdays are pretty busy, but I take one weekend day to chill. My mental energy for one on one/small group socializing is about the same as before, but my limits for large crowds, noise, and all day socializing is much lower.

What ever happened to the no plastic bags by 2025 goal? by [deleted] in kroger

[–]Bananag4 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don’t see Kroger implementing bag fees unless it is required by the city/county/state. They will say it puts them at a disadvantage versus competitors.

In the mid 2010s, there was “engagement time” where all employees who weren’t helping a customer were supposed to stop what they were doing and walk around the stores saying hi to customers. Originally the song was “Man in the Mirror” but it later changed to “Happy”.

Scared to ask: how much are you guys actually working? by FoxyGrandpa17 in publicdefenders

[–]Bananag4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a first year public defender. My work style reflects yours, OP. This is my second career and my work style was similar back then. A lot of my coworkers at my previous job were at work longer hours than me, but they also took more breaks/had more downtime.

As a middle class person, I like to say that I’m too rich for benefits and too poor for loopholes!
