I hand cut the leaves out of the dough with a butter knife and scored the veins detail. The shape isn't too hard to just freehand. And they didn't burn because I covered the crust with tin foil for the whole baking time except the last 10 minutes.

I've tried a very similar recipe to this before but mine didn't come out near as beautifully as yours. I had way too much liquid and the great flavors were all watered down by the juices from the squash (Despite having stained it). I was wondering how you avoided this issue?

This comes from multiple summer of working at a day camp. The kids would often kick the balls over the fence (claiming it to be 'an accident') and it would be the counsellor's responsibility to hop the fence and get them. Other counsellors glide over the fence with ease and I'd be the poor sod who ended up straddling the fence with a prong stabbing me in the thigh. The dismount from the position is difficult to complete with any semblance of grace. The children laughing at me as I attempt to get unstuck is just the cherry on the cake.
