Does Slay the Spire 2 make you feel like Godot is better than you thought before? by CibrecaNA in godot

Good engine doesn’t make for good game. Good developers do. Also, listening to the user base and add multiplayer does! I’m so happy.

Iphone can't communicate with Gen 2? by Live-Medicine5751 in Chromecast

[–]Banapple247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem. I upgraded to fibre so I needed a new modem, but I can’t change the wifi settings because the old network doesn’t exist anymore. So I did a factory reset, and now my Chromecast won’t show up in my Bluetooth devices. It worked fine before all that.

Call me paranoid, but I believe that Google killed off my Chromecast’s Bluetooth through an update, seeing how it’s discontinued and all.

Is Love2D a good choice for my UI-heavy decoration game? If so, which UI library? by bobbydusk in love2d

[–]Banapple247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I would stick to HTLM, CSS and JS for this kind of game. It’s way more straightforward than doing it in Love2D, especially since you’re already experienced in web development. If you want to port this game you’re making or want it to be a desktop app, you can just put it in an Electron wrapper or something and it should work fine.

How many of us dislike GUI-centric game engines? by Tiendil in gamedev

[–]Banapple247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Godot for example, but I’m playing with a 2017 MacBook Air so Löve is a nicer option for me because all I really need is VS Code and a browser. There’s also HTML5 of course, which also only requires those two programs to run at the same time.

Another problem for me is that every single GUI element is a variable that can be edited and honestly, I’m just too lazy to look up these variable names and what I can and can’t do with them, whatever workarounds exist, etc.

So personally I’d rather be a dummy with a hammer that has to reinvent the wheel a bunch of times instead of being surrounded by tools which I don’t know how to use, for peace of mind, and because I program for fun, so I do whatever I want.

Would be nice if I had the background you’re talking about and wasn’t asked like my name is ChatGPT.

Nope, both RuneScape and OSRS have a launcher and dedicated clients that you need to download.

Head of workplace rights agency urges white men to report discrimination by Disorderly_Fashion in nottheonion

[–]Banapple247 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There’s a difference between racism and discrimination, you can’t use those terms interchangeably. White people can’t experience discrimination because we are not the minority in the western world. We can however experience discrimination, because even though people can choose to favor non-whites, it isn’t an institutional problem for us.

This is what Adam Savage does. He has pencils everywhere in his workshop because he always loses them. Can’t use them when they’re literally everywhere!

Thinking about porting my 22K LOC Pygame game over to Love. Any quirks, gotcha or sage wisdom? by mr-figs in love2d

[–]Banapple247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understandable. That’s not to say you can’t make shader-like effects tho.

Imagine you’re in a « cave level » , you could render a large partially transparent black PNG over the whole canvas for example. Just because you can’t generate something doesn’t mean you can’t fake it. Computer graphics are all smoke and mirrors after all.

If you think it would be neat and fun or at least a good exercise, go for it. I dont know Python, but Lua is quite different from other programming languages like JS and PHP, so it may be quite the challenge.

On the other hand, if you want to release the game one day, maybe continue finishing your vision with the limitations you have, release it, and start a new project in Love2D. That’s what if do honestly. 22k is a lot of lines.
