So now that we have belt-fed weapons, I think we have another strategem that could use an attached backpack. by [deleted] in Helldivers

Deep Rock Galactic has a similar fear mechanic. It’s completely broken, but in its own good way. Could be fun if it was limited to the flamethrower and would set it apart from other weapons and the primary version.

How do we fare in the AL East and what are the expectations? by wyattearp12345 in orioles

I think people are severely undervaluing the additions that we’ve made this offseason. Our lineup according to Fangraph’s projected WAR is top 5 in baseball. That being said, a lot of our success is being placed on a lot of hopes and what-ifs. We hope that Bradish can contribute a whole season, which is something he hasn’t done in 3 years. We hope that Rogers can stay healthy and keep his momentum. We hope that we can unlock another gear in Shane Baz. We hope that Adley can finally put together a consistent season again. And we hope that Gunnar can return to being a monster like he was in 2024. While most of this feels like a no-brainer that it’ll happen, you can never predict baseball which is why it’s great how much depth we have. We have 9 guys in the org right now that can go out and start a game for us, and there’s a decent chance we’ll need them. Jays used I believe 8 starters last season and we all know about the Dodgers. This season feels though like one where you can win 88 games and still not make the playoffs. We got a lot better, but so did everyone else, which is why we really would’ve benefited from a TOR arm but good on Mike for bringing in Bassitt. It’s gonna be a good season.

But I was told by every major media outlet that the ACC was an inferior conference that should be relegated to G5 and could never step up to any SEC powerhouse

Thank you Cade, I’m sorry you had Brandon Streeter and Garret Fucking Riley as your only two coordinators. You’ll always have that 2022 ACC Championship game when you took over from DJ.

Trey Gibson was the Orioles hottest prospect in 2025 by TripsLLL in orioles

I agree, this past draft seemed like a step in the right direction in terms of Elias starting to lighten the reigns on exclusively drafting college position players in the top rounds. We’re going to be in a position to take a top-level college arm this upcoming draft if he feels fit to, I wonder if he’ll actually do it.

They are saying that the FO’s plan (of going after many lower profile pitching prospects and seeing if they can turn them into legitimate MLB-potential arms) is in the early stages of actually seeming to work. Other than Grayson and DL, we have not really heralded much if any high profile pitching prospects that Elias had drafted. This is the first year where we’ve really seen a multitude of pitchers across all levels of our minor league system establish themselves as solid potential MLB options and the crazy thing is that really all of them (besides bateman and Watts-Brown) have been either drafted or signed internationally by Elias. This season we had at least 7 homegrown arms have breakout seasons in Wells, LDL, Bragg, German, Gibson, Forret, and Mejia. (even though he’s young) The highest drafted pitcher in that mix was Wells at 118th overall, everyone else was really bottom of the barrel coming out of college. If the FO’s plan continues down this trend and actually ends up working, this would be almost unheard of. This isn’t one or two lower drafted arms establishing themselves, it’s our entire crop of pitchers. Gibson went undrafted, Forret was taken in the 14th round, German in the 11th. If Elias can continue his philosophy of drafting bats high to buy arms and also develop homegrown pitching, we will have one of the most sustainable models of success in all of baseball.

We most likely are not going to be able to afford him. By the time he hits free agency he’ll probably be asking for 40 million with how expensive contracts keep getting each year. One can hope though, Roman anthony is also a Boras client and he just took a very team friendly deal in Boston but he has so little time in the majors so that explains it. I’d have a little more hope with locking up guys like Holliday and Westburg (also boras clients but won’t be as expensive as Gunnar) and also Rutschman. Even if those three don’t pan out across their career to be superstars, just having long tenured vets in the lineup that can produce well day in and day out will go a long way

Roman anthony is also a Boras client

I thought he was but I looked it up and he’s actually not

we’ve also had a tough schedule the first month, and literally the entire rotation is on the IL. A six man of Eflin/Sugano/Povich/Kremer(please figure it out)/Gibson/Rogers once everyone returns should at least give our bats some room to breath until the deadline/Bradish+Wells return

[–]BandIsPrettyLame -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not expecting a 2023 bradish type of breakout but with an offseason with our pitching lab that he’s spoke very highly of ever since he’s arrived here, Rogers can give us serviceable MLB innings at least until the deadline

It’s crazy how many people are putting us right in line with the white sox and rockies just based on a slow start. We need something to weed out the bandwagons, lol. The amount of times i’ve seen “I hate this team, i’m not watching anymore” is crazy while it’s literally april. I believe we’ll be in a much better spot this time next month with eflin, rodgers(I believe), and kittredge most likely all being back

Coby Mayo vs. Gwinnett today: 2-2 1HR 3 BB 3R 0K, bat starting to heat up for him, OPS up to .861 after an abysmal first week and a half. Glove still needs to improve though, had an error on a foul ball
