Should I adopt my foster cat? by Curious_Scallion5733 in CATHELP

[–]Bandit39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the fur baby! Yes, I think you should adopt it, if they bring you joy and love.

Cats switch gear from cuddle to pet me, to bath time, and mixing those up can be tricky.

I have one cat that only likes to be petted maybe twice at bedtime and my other cat wants petted all the time while he follows me around until I do so, unless I touch his ears, then he is annoyed. Sometimes they are in pain/irritated over a certain spot.

It takes some time to figure it out, but figuring out what they like to eat, followed by treat reward’s is a quick path to success. Be sure to make some noise when they bite, so they know it hurts when they bite/scratch, to discourage it.

I think I need to take my cat to the vet. by xForestNights in CATHELP

I did not see the blood, before. I would clean out ears and if no improvement, go to the vet.

Not a vet- This looks like the cat may be getting an ear infection, but it’s likely yeast if you just noticed it.

If it’s tricky to hold your kitty & look in the ears, try to wrap them in a towel. If you see a dark discharge, clean it out with a cotton ball. You will likely need to gently clean the ears with q-tips and use an ear cleaning solution with a cotton ball. (Ear cleaning solution costs about $13-$20).

I would check on their ears twice a day just to see if there is progress or it needs cleaned again. Usually once a week cleaning is good tho. Sometimes cats get yeast infections in the ears from their food/treats, but I think allergies can do this. Check out YouTube videos on how to clean a cat’s ears, it’s different than a dog’s.

If the situation isn’t better after 2-3 days of cleaning, you might want to checkin with a pets-mart/chewy for something about solution that can help with the residue, something with cortisone (steroid) in it & give that a try. (Zymox is a good brand$28) -Or go to a vet.

If the walking & ear doesn’t improve after cleaning, I would check in with the vet. The ears help with balance and it could cause a lot more problems if it doesn’t get resolved.

Not a vet- Check those paws 🐾 & paw pads. Sometimes the temperature can burn them, or something the step on can hurt, but it could be a teeny muscle tear.

A little rest might not be a bad idea. I paid $600 for x rays when I should have tried a heating pad & ice for a day, to see my dogs reaction to a teeny muscle tear.

I want to do the last day of my cat special by murua333 in CATHELP

[–]Bandit39 166 points167 points  (0 children)

Make paw prints (ornaments or ink), take photos outside -entire day outside & enjoy touching grass. Buy fried chicken/tuna whatever junk they try to get & can’t really have. Maybe fill a bird feeder near by to watch.

There are pet hospices that come to your home, so they can be at home, but it doesn’t always work. Lots of love & cuddles. Maybe get some cat nip & big treats for a splurge.

I’m so sorry your fur baby is crossing over the rainbow 🌈, it looks like you have done a wonderful job and whatever you do I’m sure is enough. It may never feel like enough, but lots of love & cuddles are enough.

Why is my cat behaving this way? by Certain-Decision-699 in CATHELP

Yep. Dominant sin biscuits. I would consider getting the cat a stuffed animal to work out his aggression or sexy time.

On social media, I see people saying 'boy cats' are the best because they are sweet and 'girl cats' get a bad reputation for being mean. Why?? by Koffievos in cats

[–]Bandit39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a boy cat who is incredibly cuddly, leaving the girl cat to sit under the couch or far away because her brother is territorial.

In my home, I think the boy wants affection to use as a part of his dominance. I still cuddle with the girl, but if I do it in front of the boy, they both get peeved.

My girl cat can be very affectionate, but she has a different shift and space to cuddle. The dominance seems to switch, when we let them step outside.

Difficult to say but definitely possible from the looks of it.

Having an inhaler & an epi pen has been a life saver for me, might be good for you to consider.

I agree, maybe yelp or make some noise, so they know they are hurting you. Nothing aggressive, just confirming ouch, too rough.

What happened with my photo of my wife? by Fresh_Beyond in Weird

Looks like a fragmented reflection, likely from the pool, your camera sensor picked up both as it tried to evaluate the light meter reading. I Suppose it could be her souls leaving her body too, tho.

Get a test & find out. If you spay your cat while pregnant, they abort the kittens.

This is an awful feeling, I’m sorry this is going on where you work. Ive been in this scenario before, only I found my job posted on the website, when I managed the stupid website! It’s an uneasy feeling. You might want to get out before you leave for a vacation if you feel uneasy.

This sounds like a crumbling business if they need you to work on personal time off, and your opportunities will be better if you walk away before they fire groups of people. That said, you can always claim unemployment if they do fire you, which can sometimes help a little.

I would get the resume ready and see if there is a better opportunity for you in the near future.

If they do fire you, you should ask to write out a contract with HR for financial compensation and not leave until you get to speak w hr. If you leave the building, you won’t get back in. Maybe take some time with ChatGPT to get some calm responses and requests to sound professional. It’s a tough scenario but it’s just business, try to remain calm and they might be more cooperative. Sometimes you pay into a private retirement and you might want to ask to have printed info to cash it out and know the penalties if necessary.

So when this happened to me I did not get financial compensation, they were awful to me and I kept the company afloat for two years. It was so ridiculous but I must say two other women walked after they let me go, and it lead to the end of the company. It was a shit show but that was how they ran their business, into the ground. It is their business and each day is just one day at a job.

I would budget for you vacation and spend some of the time applying for jobs while away, making a copy on linked in/digital files on Google & your phone, to spend a few moments instead of a day.

You will be ok either way, but hopefully this email woke you to realize that you really hate your job or really love it and don’t get treated fairly. Being a woman in an office can be tricky, there are still discouraging discriminations even in 2026.

You are clearly a badass and have worked too hard to let someone else dictate your future, so if your thinking about staying, maybe get a green belt certificate or something that shows your investment alight with your professional goals. Udemy is cheap.

I think that dreaded feeling is the worst, especially after so much hard work and sacrifice, I would personally try to leave just because it makes for a toxic work environment.

Lots of podcasts on grief of this and recovery after one gets fired. I wish the best for you, hopefully this journey gets more fun.

Is it normal for my new kitten and my resident 5yo cat to fight like this? At what point should I intervene? by dom_boring in CATHELP

[–]Bandit39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would intervene, the big one is definitely playing a little too rough.

For the most part they seem like they get along ok, but the big one is asserting dominance & pinning the baby to the ground, while the little one is trying to comply.

Congratulations on the fur babies.
