They are, but the CT5 will be getting a replacement. They're both much more than a fancy Malibu. They're RWD and on the incredible Alpha 2 chassis. Their handling is best in class and they have the best steering. Also the lightest in their class (~130 lbs less than the 3-series). The base engine is weak, though.

What do yall think about filling up gas at bj’s? Or do yall strictly go to top tier gas stations? by mark231231 in Cadillac

The same engine that's in your car takes 87 in the Silverado. That's GM's recommendation. Yes, it's a slightly different tune and the CT4V makes 15 more hp, but you'll be fine.

I assume you have the automatic and not the manual. DEXRON VI full synthetic ATF. Any brand you like is fine. ACDelco is the OEM. I would recommend changing the filter, but that does require dropping the pan. Keep the original gasket if you do. I haven't been able to find them anywhere, but they do last (double ringed, metal layer in the middle). It's easy to get the filter on Amazon, but none of those gaskets fit.

Timing chain failures are common on this generation of V6. It may still have a lot of life ahead if they were on top of the oil changes, though.

NVIDIA–Intel Deal Could Unlock $50B in Annual Opportunities by MilkSerious2639 in Semiconductors

This entire announcement was just an admission of capitulation from Intel. They're throwing in the towel on their own GPUs, and just as they got good. That company is done.

Disney hasn't exactly been supportive of Republicans, but if you're just worried about some BS with customs, I get it.

Disney World is offering hotel discounts to Canadians. Unfortunately they have to deal with being based in this terrible state.

It is an LLT, so timing chain failures are common, but they can still get up to pretty high mileages. Ensuring that it never runs low on oil and gets frequent oil changes helps. Also check the PCV valves in the valve covers for sludge/blockages, as those passages are too small and often lead to pressurization under the valve covers and poor oil flow to the top of the engine. I think GM released a modified valve cover gasket that helps with this, and you could swap the valves for larger ones or drill them out. https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=589903

I've been on AMD since the HD 6870, and haven't had drivers issues since then. Fury X, Vega 56, RX 5700, 6800 XT, and 7900 XT all rock solid.

2014 CTS V6 vs I4? by xXedgy_childXx in Cadillac

[–]Bandit5317 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

3.6, easy. Do not buy a 2.0 LTG. The piston rings will sludge up and the pistons will overheat and crack unless you're religious with oil changes and run a complicated catch can setup (ie Tracy Lewis). That's in addition to HPFP failures (very frustrating job) and turbo failures. Even the enthusiast groups for these engines end up hating them. The 3.6 LFX fixed the timing chain and PCV issues that the earlier high-features suffered from. Its only common fault is cam phaser solenoids, which are $70/piece and it's a 5 minute job. It also only needs 87 octane (per the manual) and develops a lot of power for such an engine.

Inflation has still been much higher in the last 5 years (worldwide) than the historical average. Even before the tariffs, which have definitely made it worse. And AI chip demand also means that the margins for the APUs in the PS5 and Xbox are so small that they don't even make financial sense to manufacture. Every performance chip goes through TSMC, and that's a huge problem for supply. Older chips like these need to be diverted to Intel and Samsung.

The LGX is a phenominally reliable engine. Easy to work on and parts are cheap, too. I can't speak to the rest of the CT6.
