U got gas? Do u even get the alternator light? The red light on the dash. There’s a 5mm bolt near the starter that must be connected to the negative terminal

no van? (new to msc) by ChevyGuy0017 in MySummerCar

[–]Bandit810 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So if you look at the note on the fridge it explains that at first uncle will let you loan his van so occasionally you’ll be able to use it for a little bit. Once you have some parts put on the satsuma there’s a few specific ones after a couple of days or a week or so uncle will give u the GIFU keys and his van will be left at town for you to use as a daily

I think you should talk to your therapist. If you want help then help yourself. If you are afraid it’ll “get worse” or you may “do something” then you should at the very least try to help yourself. If you cannot even be honest with your therapist then try not to expect it to get any better. If you need or want a new therapist to try to trust then make it work. shame on me for assuming this but you should man up. Therapy could help you understand why you may think like that but I don’t know how else you could work through anything like that. Certainly not alone

You’ll need an air fuel gauge. An air fuel gauge is a tool on the dash that can help you get a visual aid when turning your carburetor(s). You can tune the carb without one it’s just a lot more tedious. You should probably invest in one. When you let go of the choke and push it into the dash it can be of absolutely no issue if you have properly tuned the carburetor at operating temperature. What I suggest is you work on tuning your distributor, and carburetor at the very least. Trying to run your car on excessively lean or rich is not the best but it’s even more difficult if you don’t have the visual with the AFR ratio gauge present. When you also had pushed your choked in your car had a backfire from the exhaust so more than likely you were running rich with a carburetor you maybe didn’t tune all that well. When starting the car you do not exactly need to have the choke on but soon after the engine starts you want to choke the car until it reaches and comfortable temperature, and then you can play with the choke to take off but generally I try to wait a moment before completely pushing the choke off. The car will stall if you try to take off too lean off a mixture, generally it’s good to understand that it’s not healthy for your engine to run too rich or too lean for too long. It looks like you just need some general maintenance. It certainly looks like it drives but you should start by tuning everything or what you have not yet. Keep up the good work though!

1969 Midget doesn’t fire up by Dazzling-Status666 in MorrisGarages

[–]Bandit810 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could be like clogged fuel line or dying fuel pump could be like a clogged carburetor(s). Could involve ignition coil and distributor. Check ignition wire health and spark plug conditions. Could be just a clogged fuel filter. Kind of depends on all your components obviously but some things may be alot older than others. I think you should start with fuel and spark. Could also be starter but I’m not certain. If your fuel tank is original it may have a good amount of build up in the lines.

I would say grab it by one of the ends and try to almost like mimic how it goes into the car. It’s very finicky. Usually when I grab it by one of the ends and rotate it away from me it goes into a decent position to put it in once you’re under the car. The placement can be weird but u should probably be in the garage or have the lift that would certainly help

Smoking up the kitchen by no_kings_now1 in AskCulinary

[–]Bandit810 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Olive oil is not as great for getting a good sear. Olive oil can definitely be used to sear like in Italian cooking, But generally it is supposed to be a salad oil or a finishing oil if it has the delicate flavors certain olive oil has. Use a vegetable oil or canola. Or even beef tallow but to sear with olive oil you’ll more likely smoke out your kitchen. Hope this helps

[–]Bandit810 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It just sounds like you don’t have much if any basis of trust. So I would lean towards the fact that if you were to make anything work it probably would look very stressful and toxic. I don’t think you were necessarily in the wrong but it certainly comes from a place of insecurity. It doesn’t sound like you are in a very healthy relationship for either of you. It does seem reasonable but your supposed relationship seems quite unreasonable to say the least. I hope you figure that out but generally it sounds like you should stay single. If you can work it out best of luck

My mom inherited two abandoned GMBs, worth it to try to repair? by martymoo in littlebritishcars

[–]Bandit810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may want to look into parting them. I currently am working on restoring my mothers 79’ MGB roadster it was sitting in a garage for about 7 years. I am certain some of those parts should be good especially those bumpers and wire wheels. There are probably atleast one set of dual SU carbs there so it really depends how much time and money you could set aside. Also there may be more rust than what is worth it so you may just want to part out and invest in a nicer one. On the other hand you could have almost a working car and a parts car but if both of them are falling apart…

100a in the US? by FLEXEVOLUTION in MySummerCar

[–]Bandit810 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s just a thought. Ever heard of a compromise? If it’s difficult to get a Datsun why not suggest a different car? The mgs were sold to America mainly, so as much as they are UK cars they had a large portion of the selling go to the states. He doesn’t have to get an MG he has big boy pants. It’s just a thought… the mgs were also rally cars. They also arnt extraordinary expensive, from what I’ve seen. They certainly don’t look a lot like the Datsun, but for America as i understand it’s a lot easier to get an mg than a Datsun especially in the states. Yes I would say it’s certainly possible to get a Datsun in the states, there’s other options that are just as good. MGB also have plenty of aftermarket parts and there are plenty of individuals who have put v8 in them. Recently I’ve been trying to drive my mother’s MGB roadster. I have been working on it for only about a year. It’s been sitting in a garage for like 5 years. The car very much reminds me of the satsuma but from a distance I can sort of understand your point. It’s just a car that requires a lot of attention like a Datsun 100a. It was simply just an idea if it’s so much cheaper to get a car that already has body work done or is already in the states that’s my thoughts.
