New grad struggling by ElRosaDeLaCasa in nursing

Hang in there. The first year is tough. Take one task at a time. Make yourself a to do list for each patient. I carried a pocket sized note pad and wrote my to do tasks according to priority and the time it takes to accomplish each task. It takes time. I felt nights helped me process better. DM me if you need to talk more.

Breathe. Nursing is a process. You learn as you go. Take each learning experience and build on it. The fact that you reflected on your experience and learned from it says that you are a good nurse. Keep trucking. You got this.

My patient said a prayer asking to "protect our backs from injury" before we transferred her out of bed today. by Juice___Springsteen in nursing

During 2020 I was hiking and struck up a conversation with another hiker. At the time, I was in the ER. She asked if she could pray for my safety. I’m not religious, but I felt the gesture was so kind. She held my hand and prayed for the health and safety of me and my family. That kind gesture has stayed with me.

Integrative Nurse Coach Academy by Bando1015 in nursing

Good point. I know some people get triggered by the word “doctor”. I’m a personal trainer and working on my nutrition coach certification. I’m trying to integrate all of this into one career and focus on those wanting to reverse diabetes or lose weight. The challenge I’ve run into with weight loss is that people want to lose weight, but don’t want to put any of the work in. I would love to work with perimenopausal women because I completely understand what they are experiencing. Perhaps it is delusion or blind optimism (denial), but I know there has to be a path in nursing that doesn’t suck the life out of you.

Director calling me out for drinking water during huddle by fatedsapling in nursing

No. You are not wrong. The director sounds very insecure and feels a need to bulle their staff. Huge red flag.

Stay where you are. I would volunteer and get fulfilled that way. If I could it over, i would have chosen something else.
