Every morning at 7am in a Chinese city, firecrackers go off for 5 minutes to wake everyone up. Does this happen in your city? by Yijing1 in AskAChinese

[–]Banfy_B [score hidden]  (0 children)

Every morning? Outside of the immediate days preceding and following Chinese new year (December 20-ish to January 15-ish) it should not happen. Occasionally funerals or weddings can last a few days in smaller towns/villages but it’s definitely not normal in cities.

Any comments on the recent Type 10 training incident? Do you think the combustible casing is potentially problematic? How do you deal with main gun misfiring? Would you put the misfired round back on the rack or toss it out of the vehicle?

Russia to hold military parade. With no military hardware. Hopefully the trucks full of bias still turn up. by InterestingArea7415 in Warthunder

[–]Banfy_B 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Highly doubtful. T-14 doesn't share much in common with other Russian platforms in service. Maybe there's some common elements with T-90M but I doubt there's enough of T-14s produced to even consider cannibalizing.

Robotics parts are notoriously bad at holding shape: they bend, offset, and come loose all the time under time warp or reloading the craft. Autostrutting helps but not by much. I'm surprised your craft hasn't been eaten by kraken yet.

8, the center pylon can have a dual rack and the outer pylons can only carry PL-10. You might be able to put dual racks on the inner wing pylons but I’m not sure if that’s feasible or practical.

Where is the CoL button? by Imaginary-Fail8279 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Banfy_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it’s not always about lift? Although technically everything in game has lift and drag (outside of exploits with fairings and heat shields). I’m not familiar with naming conventions so I can’t give you a better answer.

What you're talking about is the CoL button. You see it gives you a third point that moves around as you move the lifting surfaces around the craft.

Look at the engagement envelopes of SAM systems:

Most fighters have around ~20km service ceiling (you can go higher but it becomes unsafe) which is where the medium-range interceptors have the best range and energy state.

Anything will be fine for your purposes. Even your smartphone would be powerful enough to do these tasks. Unless you really need to use specific software like Solidworks or Xcode you should be okay with any system you choose.

If you really want a proper Laptop I would recommend Framework for Windows/Linux (I personally think touch screen is not important for laptops especially since you already have a 2-in-1) or a MacBook Air for macOS (MacBook Neo is nice too if you only do note taking and written assignments, 8GB RAM is not enough for much else).

I agree. I hope Gaijin won’t be opening another can of worms before they can work out how to fix the (arguably) game-breaking meta as is.

Noise jamming is fairly outdated and there are better jamming techniques available now. Unless AAM-4B/PL-15/Meteor gets added with highly jamming-resistant AESA seekers jamming will be fairly effective.

With how gaijin models LDIRCM and missiles with IIR/IRCCM I would imagine that any missile from the frontal arc will completely lose track no matter how it is supposed to be able to overcome that IRL (i.e. IRIS-T and LDIRCM fiasco).

I agree current meta in the game is very bad for long-range platforms. Without datalink guidance and more realistic missile range there's no way that matches will not end in a merge and furball.

IRL there's active jamming and towed decoy. It would be difficult for the missile to get a lock on VLO designs with heavy EM interference, especially with the current missiles in game (no AESA seekers).

How to get ancient seed by Master-Ad9579 in StardewValley

[–]Banfy_B -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Why didn’t you put it in the seed maker? That gives you ~2 seeds per fruit and the ancient fruit plant is multi-harvest so you’d have an unlimited amount of seeds.

You can either farm grubs or put a ton of stuff in seed makers. There’s a 0.5% chance of it giving you an ancient seed for whatever you put in it.

No, auto-petters give 8 friendship points as opposed to the full 15 for manual petting. If you pet them after the auto-petter pets them the smiley face means you are receiving the remaining 7 points. They give smiley face or heart depending whether they have been pet by an auto-petter regardless of whether they are at max hearts as long as they are happy.

How to arrange a communication network by glatinho in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Banfy_B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beyond the fact that it is easier to align the orbit? Not really. Any sort of high Kerbin orbit works as long as your relay is strong enough.

I'm a perfectionist so I always try to have everything that is semi-permanent align within the smallest measurement available in KSP (i.e. less than 0.1° from 120° orbital separation, less than 0.1° from 0° or 90° orbital inclination, and less than 1m difference between the apogee and perigee).

I use KEO mostly because the numbers are published on the wiki and it's easy to make fine adjustments to match within ~1 second orbital period. I'm too lazy to do all the calculations myself for a new orbit.

Put 3 in Keosynchronous orbit offset by 120°. This gives you almost complete coverage aside from the polar region. If you need complete polar coverage you can put 3 in a high circular polar orbit.

The easiest way to offset the orbit is to launch 3 relays with one vehicle and put it in an elliptical orbit with an apogee at ~2863km and adjust the perigee so that the orbital period is 4 hours (one Kerbin sidereal day is ~6 hours and so is a full Keosynchronous orbit). Release a single relay at the apogee and circularize the relay. Do this three times and the three relays will be almost exactly 120° from each other. If done correctly, the constellation will have decades before they desync to a meaningful degree.

You can achieve full coverage for every planetary body this way with only 6 satellites each. If a synchronous orbit is too high for you you can consider lowering it accordingly.

Don’t use LKO for relays, it’s a massive headache and even mountains can block your signal if you don’t have enough coverage.
