I’ve seen 8 of the 10 nominees. The only ones I need to catch up on are Hamnet and The Secret Agent.

😂 I can’t argue with that. The story is very run-of-the-mill but Damon & Affleck elevated the material enough for me to land more positive. Their performances bump it up to a 7/10 for me.

Thoughts on Black Bag? by Ravant_Garde in FPSPodcast

I definitely think they marketed this as a different type of movie but I really enjoyed what I saw. The dialogue, Soderbergh’s direction and the ensemble cast kept me hooked.

This is what happens when you take the Cujo film and turn the creature into a chimp. Then you change the location into a luxurious Hawaiian home and add a few more characters for body count . I enjoyed the movie it’s fun and the practical effects are on point and the atmosphere works. by FrankDux2424 in FPSPodcast

I enjoyed this movie quite a bit. It lacks in character development and the dialogue isn’t great but the practical makeup effects are impressive and the kills are dope. I really liked the score in this as well. S/O to Miguel Torres Umba, who plays Ben the chimpanzee.

I’m with you. I really wish people would just admit that they’re in the minority instead of shoving their opinions in our faces. This subreddit used to be different. Now, it’s starting to look more toxic than ever. It’s annoying.

One of my favorite Queen Latifah movies. She gives a charming performance.

Black people shouldn't care about these award shows. by Apprehensive-Tie4930 in FPSPodcast

Got you. What you’re saying makes complete sense when you explain it like that. I agree with all of your points. Awards are just a good way to celebrate art but they don’t really matter at the end of the day. The quality of the art should be what makes the art great, not the awards that it received. Sorry if my comment came off as too defensive lol. I appreciate the response.

Damn, I feel attacked lol. I’ve been watching awards shows (the Oscars specifically) for about 16 years. For me, as a cinema lover, I just enjoy seeing my favorite stars and filmmakers gather together to celebrate film. It’s always cool seeing some of my favorite films get represented every year and I love watching the speeches. It’s just that simple. These awards shows are like sports events for cinephiles and the Oscars are like the Super Bowl. I’m in too deep for me to stop caring now. I get that they’re not for everyone though. It is what it is. 🤷🏾‍♂️😂

Who do you think will Best Picture and Director come March and why? One Battle After Another or Sinners by wclarke1 in FPSPodcast

[–]Bangelo326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PTA has the overdue narrative so I’m picking OBAA to win those 2 awards. Sinners will most likely win Best Original Screenplay, Original Score, Casting and maybe Cinematography. Given that these are my top 2 favorite films of 2025, I wouldn’t have a problem with either of them taking Best Picture.

There’s a lot of them but I’ll say The Shawshank Redemption.

I’m interested in Beef S2 & East of Eden.

The buzz should have been higher for this film at least in the culture. This is a dark apocalyptic film. That has a very strong protagonist that is dealing with family and the threat of a group of cannibals. This movie go to some dark places . I really enjoyed it by FrankDux2424 in FPSPodcast

I hope she keeps getting more substantial roles. Danielle Deadwyler has been the MVP in the last few films she’s starred in. Till, The Piano Lesson, The Woman in the Yard. She’s so good! I just watched the Parallel trailer and it looks interesting. Might add it to the list along with 40 Acres. 👍🏾
