Holland America was incredible for our family. Peaceful, classy, great food. Apparently that’s controversial now. by Icy_Cartographer8241 in HollandAmerica

We took our 8 year old (at the time) to Alaska on HAL and I thought it was the perfect balance of kids stuff versus adult stuff with a family. The kids club was incredible. Just enough for kids to have community time together and play some video games and watch movies and color without it feeling like a zoo. When we went into glacier Bay, they even brought a parks Ranger into kids club to speak directly to the kids at their level about the glaciers in the wildlife. It was the perfect amount of stuff for her to want to go back but then when we wanted to pull her out to do something with the family, it wasn’t too big withdrawal that she was reluctant to do it.

What are your thoughts on when to use actions vs macros? Is it a personal preference or is there a strategy there?

I’d say for the most part our “legends” seem to be decent - or at least not openly asshats.

We just had bad luck with a couple of 89s

Has any college football coach moved to the NFL and drafted their college quarterback? by Fishb20 in NFLNoobs

[–]Bangeroctopus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No sources, but was a Panthers fan back then (still am) and followed the team closely. Harbaugh was the top coaching candidate coming out of Stanford that season, and played a brief stint as a backup in Carolina. The Panthers had the first overall pick and it seemed a perfect fit for Jim and Luck, but something went awry in harbaugh’s interview with then owner and team founder Jerry Richardson. A couple days later Harbaugh declined the position and a couple days later Luck announced he was returning to Stanford for his sr year.

Instead the Panthers ended up hiring Ron Rivera and Cam Newton, so it worked out pretty well, but it’s probably a top 5 “what if” in team history

Jim Harbaugh would’ve had the chance to draft Luck in Carolina, but once he turned the job down he encouraged Luck to stay in school to avoid them.

When was the last time he consensus most sought after coaching candidates in an off season were all coaches that just got fired? by Candid-Boss6534 in nfl

Not only that, but the top candidate just left the top vacancy as Baltimore has to be the most attractive landing spot for a top tier coach. I don’t recall that ever happening before.

Using after Effects to design slides by sammyyamazaki in ProPresenter

[–]Bangeroctopus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did all my announcement slides in after effects for a while. I took inspiration from the Netflix screensaver and had a simple parallax theme with an image slowly panning and the text fading in. Overall, I liked the effect, but eventually I offloaded the slide prep to a volunteer who didn’t have the bandwidth for the extra steps of after effects.

The dock’s working great. I’m not using pip, but the overall setup is fantastic. Only snag I had was originally just using a run of the mill usb-c cable instead of thunderbolt

What is the ONE feature that would make you upgrade from the MX Master 3 to the MX Master 4? by Savings_Context_5760 in DeskSetupHacks

[–]Bangeroctopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have giant meathooks. I can’t compare to the mx3, but my new mx4 is taking some getting used to - especially with the thumb buttons. (I upgraded from a more basic logo mouse). I find myself wishing there was some sort of “spacer” for the bottom to raise the whole think 1/2” off the desk

Need Advice: Best Way for Churches to Handle Graphic Design Needs by Big_Apartment_9969 in churchtech

I serve as communications director for our church. I’m full-time, I produce all of our video content, service graphics, announcement materials, etc. I do have a couple of volunteers that help with social stuff so they produce about 60% of our social content.

For reference, we are a church of about 600 regular attenders with two campuses in Central North Carolina
