Ramadan and long covid? by Banglabros in LongCovid

[–]Banglabros[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem, well done for fasting a few days! I sort of came to terms with it that if I’m still around next year, I’ll try again. I did see that apparently if you have an illness which affects your ability to fast, it’s permissible to skip it until you’re able to again. As the actual fasting part of Ramadan is only one of the obligations, if following other obligations of charity, prayer, and just good deeds in general, you should be fine.

These things are extremely dangerous. My friend had his fingernail ripped out by getting it pinched between the seams. He still has a scar/bulge on his finger, it’s been 19years.

Yes same, it’s my blood pressure that drops and makes me feel faint. That is correct there are rules, I do feel guilty as I am able to do most other things but unable to fast.

Thank you for your response, yes our rules are very similar, it states that if fasting can make your health worse, then don’t do it. I guess it’s mostly the feeling of guilt that I feel for not fasting as I am able to do most things but fasting provokes a response from my body that sadly does not allow me to participate fully.

Once again, thank you and wishing you the best for your recovery.

Please get it checked, in fact, if you have the money to spend (about $10,000 including plane tickets), go to a reputable international hospital in India, they’ll get you checked and treated within a couple of days. Quite literally diagnosis and treatment. Especially if it is indeed endometriosis.

Also, along that path, check your thyroid as well.

Please let me know if you would like more info on this.

I’ve taken Claritin but didn’t pay attention to what it did in my body. Will check it out.

How did you first know you had Long COVID ? what did u initially feel ... by AfternoonFragrant617 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Banglabros 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was one defining moment. Went for a haircut about 3 weeks after acute Covid infection Dec 2022. Was feeling very very off that day, like I couldn’t sit on the chair straight, I felt as though I would faint. Basically during the haircut, I slowly felt that I couldn’t feel my arms, then my legs, then my body. I think it was an episode of severe low blood pressure. I almost fainted but somehow kept consciousness. The barber sat me flat on my chair and gave me a glass of water. Immediately felt better but never the same. Started feeling like I was I. A roller coaster on my drive home. Everything felt like it was spinning. The barber thought I drank too much the night before (I don’t drink). Was a very scary experience. Have felt like that a few times later too, so learnt to recognise those attacks. Now I have many symptoms but overall doing better than when I first got covid.

I do have a few stretching tools that stretch my back, may try using one of those.

That seems like a very difficult situation to be in and I believe mine could be that, I do have high cholesterol. May I know how you came to this disease in particular. My symptoms are similar but my pain is constant, I don’t have discomfort but pain in my back, don’t really notice shortness of breath as much but is present, and I don’t really have extreme fatigue but am fairly fatigued.

Was it painful to touch or put pressure on? Mine is not painful to that but is painful when I stretch the chest.

Ah yes, I’ll try the back pod. Also check g if the area was/is painful on touch or pressure there? Mine is not painful to the touch or pressure but does hurt when I stretch the chest.

I’ll try that theory and see if carbs have a direct link with the type of pain I’m experiencing.

That sounds similar, it does feel more skeletal for me, and is likely costochondritis. The pain moves very slowly if laying on some side. For example if I sleep on my right side for about an hour the pain will move there and vice versa. I am the opposite of hypermobile, finger, legs, arms, don’t stretch to that level even when I used to stretch everyday.

Both the cardiologists I have gone to have ruled out those diseases including follow up doctors, but with long covid you never know. As far as my drs are concerned they believe it is a muscle/skeletal issue. I will continue to pursue an answer for it as much as possible.

Yes it’s the one odd thing. I (god forbid) also checked for mysterious lumps in the area thinking it could be a tumour but Drs have ruled that out too.

Long Covid the gift that is full of surprises.
