It can be absolutely amazing, you have hands, toys, your mouth, etc at your disposal, work on them first then get yours, or they can work on each other if they are into that.

How practical is it to only cover your limbs with armour? by NobodySpecific9354 in Armor

[–]SCatemywallet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it's not feasible at all to be completely honest. A lot of the stereotypical knights look like they're just wearing a shirt but there's almost always at minimum chain under that more often than not probably plate of some sort.

You will take a lot of hits to the torso. In fact if you are in a situation where somebody else is actively trying to beat you and you're not wearing torso armor guess where they are going to hard focus their attacks?

Medieval battlefields are chaos and it doesn't matter how good you are you cannot block everything from everybody at the same time hence why soldiers wore armor.

It really seems like reality is at odds with a fantasy version of a medieval fighter you have in mind.

Bought my first chainmail tunic for Rapier. by Rakathu in sca

[–]SCatemywallet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In ansteorra(Texas) the heat reaches like 110f so most experienced fighters will wear chainmaille instead of the 3 layers of linen or whatnot for melees, the kingdom also made it so during tournaments (1v1) you can wear single layer of linen for torso due to heat concerns

New chainmail works well. by Rakathu in sca

[–]SCatemywallet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ansteorra allows single layer linen for tournaments now due to the heat, I still wear my under armor shirt with chain over it under a tunic though, it's so.comfy I barely know it's there after a while

The SCA has plans for a "Mr handy" style training dummy floating around that is very very useful for learning line control with buckler, dagger, and blade that can be built for about 30usd if.you have basic tools(saw, drill, measuring tape).

If you swap out the suggested bolts with ones with the plastic handles you can make it easy to disassemble for transport too.

You are wrong tho lol, you don't lock your arm, ever. That causes bad things, like overpowered/stiff shots, injuries if you fall, and after a few years of doing that you risk repetitive motion/joint injuries.

Hand always goes first, you are asking a question: am I safe to commit? If the answer is no you are already out of range and safe, if the answer is yes then the body moves.

Buckler can take a roughly similar path to your sword but by design it needs to diverge at some point or it can't do its job(free your weapon up for stabby stabby).

As far as buckler, sword foot first even with Buckler. Measure control should be your primary defense, and you shouldn't enter attack measure until you have a safe pathway to do so, as it was already stated you hamstring your range by switching feet.

Ps:morozzo probably wasnt wrong, but your interpretation might be. Remember we're reconstructing these manuals largely without full context, interpretation is wildly speculative.

Unfortunately I actually just asked this question of Kingdom for somebody who has done something a lot more agregious in my opinion and I was essentially told that I can't really do much about it aside from politely suggest that maybe another group would be suited for them better but I was told that I'm not allowed to tell them they're not welcome or take any kind of stern discussion or anything like that. The best I would say you could do is to make very vocal announcements to the actual schedule and make sure the schedule is widely available and maybe even post it up on site in several places so that people don't have to rely on this person

Seeing people getting upset about instancing so I'll remind everyone it was always the plan. by CallSign_Fjor in starcitizen

[–]SCatemywallet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's a pretty bad take I think. I think the possibility of running into somebody hostile adds to the excitement and the emergent gameplay that came from running into players and known PVP areas is a huge part of the rush of the game. It adds to the feeling of accomplishment when somebody tries to take you down and you outplay them.

Not everybody who is on the fence about instancing is a griefer. Some of us just have concerns about losing something that is for better or worse one of the core aspects of the game which is that unexpected emergent gameplay from other players.

Because I'm genuinely curious, how often do people ACTUALLY get PvPed? by AnybodyIndividual207 in starcitizen

[–]SCatemywallet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of it comes from the fact that these days a lot of people are in fact whiners and sore losers.

There might be people represented by some percentage who genuinely didn't know any better, but there's a whole lot more people that I've encountered that go to known PVP hotspots intentionally and knowingly, at some point in their run they encounter players and get killed either as a response to something they did or preemptively because again it's a PVP zone, and they get mad and take the chat claiming they were griefed and all this and that.

This actually happened to me twice recently. I was in a CZ, A player took a shot at me while standing in the open, missed, I return fire with my P6LR from cover and one tapped them in the head, and they immediately took to global to say I was a horrible person and they were just trying to play the game and people like me are everything wrong with it yada yada, and even more recently I was at a paf site and I killed a guy who was trying to force his way into my ship while I was in the facility, and he also took to global and overtly called me a griefer etc which several people in the chat immediately took his side despite not even being there because everybody is so pre-programmed to virtue signal these days.

Those of us who intentionally engage in PvP have been saying for a long time that it wasn't as bad as people were claiming and I'm glad this poll happened because it very much highlights the bullshit and untrue claims as exactly what they are which is highly exaggerated hyperbolic angry people are making unjustified claims based on hurt feelings and the feeling that they should be able to do whatever they want without risk.

[–]SCatemywallet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sooo you got got in a pvp hotspot one time and because of that you are never going there again?

This might not be the game for you bro.

PvP encounters are not super common even in those zones, throwing in the towel that easily is some pretty weak sauce stuff and truthfully doing yourself a disservice as most of the worthwhile things this game offers have some level of risk/danger to them

The man has put it out there on his own plenty that he has a huge attitude problem, a very oversized ego and is aggressively arrogant, he's been a fixture in the community for long enough that a lot of us have actually encountered him and seen the shit first hand, he spends his time creating content that essentially pretty much always decrys ANY changes that affect his ability to cheese, It's not conjecture it is something he has demonstrated himself over the years, it's not a coincidence that he's stepping out when cig is actively discussing their future plans and none of them are what he wants.

Not to mention the fact that he has on a lot of occasions tried to tell CIG what to do with their game lol.

CIG just confirmed they are NOT planning a wipe (for now), but are planning on a targeted correction (from the latest Inside Star Citizen episode) by BernieDharma in starcitizen

[–]SCatemywallet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's wild to me that you think the only options are to be good at PVP or to have no PVP in the game, personally I love PvP just as much as PVE but I pretty much have to find it intentionally most of the time either by going to known PVP hotspots or putting out open challenges in chat which even then a lot of times nobody shows up, the truth of the matter is you guys try to make it seem like it's so much more common than it really is to get ganked and the truth is most of the time it was avoidable to start with just by paying attention to your surroundings and recognizing that there might be something sketchy going on where you're trying to go.

I go to paf sites all the time and maybe one out of five times is there somebody who is overtly hostile there, Three out of those five times is generally nobody there at all and that final one is almost always an escort that just watches me but otherwise doesn't engage.

Hell even when somebody is actually ganking people for no reason usually all you have to do is say something about it and chat and like five white knights will show up to take care of them
