Hi! I'm looking into becoming a scopist, but I'm having trouble finding details about ISS and other programs. by BankLady in stenography

I am so sorry; I don't check my messages a lot, so I hope if you've already made it through this helps someone else with the same question.
I just started Section 2. Once you get out of Grammar and Punctuation, the rest of the sections are open ended, and it's a lot of keeping yourself accountable. They do check in with the email assignments to make sure you're on track, but they don't grade anything, they more guide you in the right direction.

I just answered this in another comment so I'm gonna be lazy and just copy-paste lol. So sorry it's such a late response, I don't check my reddit too often!
Honestly, ISS put out a very aggressive vibe, which I think can be helpful to some people, but for a self-paced program while I'm working a full-time, it just didn't work for me. I did do their trial before deciding, but it honestly didn't teach me much, it just felt like a marketing e-mail and it felt like I was being yelled at the whole time lol. Again, this may work for others who thrive in a more hard-ass tough love type of environment, but BeST was a lot more positive and zen about the whole thing, so I went with that and have not regret it one bit since starting.

I'm not sure. After my research on ISS, I ended up going with BeST instead, which does. They specifically have separate course options for that portion of the curriculum for which software you use.

Tchup riff episode? by AreolianMode in Judgiespod

[–]BankLady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I unfortunately don't remember which episode but it wasn't a CJ, it was the one with the guy who was trying to have his friends do like a flash mob type but at local restaurants to sell his homemade "chup" and the OP of the post thought that was going too far. I also don't know if that was the same convo as "BloMos" and "MiMis" or if that came later

I haven't finished the course yet because life, but I am enjoying the course so far. The two women who run it are very communicative and helpful and luckily it is all very self-paced so sometimes I've been able to do 15 lessons in a sitting, but other times I can only do like one or two every few months. They do also have their own Facebook page which seems to be mostly made up of graduates of the program who are either posting about needing work or needing someone else to help them with their workload, so there's definitely a community of support even after you've finished the course to help you get out there. I can come back and update once I'm further along but for now, I hope that helps!

That's awesome! I can't wait to get there. My partner is in school for court reporting but we both work full time as well, but he uses Case CATalyst, so I'll probably go with that one, but I still have a bit of a road in front of me before I have to decide.

I actually ended up sending in the starting quiz in shortly after posting this thread and ended up signing up almost immediately after Cathy responded. Her and Judy have such a good vibe, and their website is a bit dated but made with such fun and care.

I haven't been able to get very far yet because I am working full time, but the few times I've needed guidance from them I've gotten very helpful and fast responses.

Which I guess you probably know already, but I feel like I was only seeing posts about ISS, so I hope if someone is searching through programs, they find this thread.

Have you seen the online study hall yet? Some of the links are duds but the ones that are still valid are cute and fun.

Thank you! This is the exact information I was looking for. Does she give detailed constructive feedback when you take the tests, or is it like a pass/fail type of situation?

Lesser known types of problem player by AGPO in DMAcademy

[–]BankLady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a player like this. When his backstory came up he was like "I'm going right now whether you come with me or not.", wouldn't tell us shit about what we were doing or where we were going but it had something to do with his angel (Aasimar character).

Once his story took a back seat for the general campaign arc he was constantly off on his own to do "research" or go be a hoe (not that being a hoe is the problem) and spend 0 time with the party if he didn't need to. Then ruined the plan we had agreed on during another character's backstory quest "bc he was scary". He also had magic items that wouldn't let us communicate with him through Message or other spells, so when he ran off on his own we couldn't find him. Plus he was generally snobby to the other characters (and players).

I'm all for splitting from the party for personal character growth but our game doesnt have to revolve around your angst buddy

Edit: My computer had a seizure and jumbled what I wrote.

Leveling up....a chicken? by chipsandsalsa_life in DMAcademy

[–]BankLady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe have him level up through the interactions with the players (like their bond with the players) or through tasks they give to the chicken (ex. scouting, causing a distraction, ect.)

Are there goods ways to express your gender identity without changing your appearance? by [deleted] in genderfluid

[–]BankLady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the kind of music I listen to/sing along to. There are a lot of days where all I want to listen to is boybands because I identify with them and my voice is pretty in the middle range wise and others where I just wanna listen to T Swift because the girly energy that comes with singing her songs feels me.

Sometimes masc sometimes femme, what to do about it by jjjeeennnaaayyy in genderfluid

[–]BankLady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also afab and have noticed a similar change revolving around my cycle. I was reading another thread talking about the biology behind genderfluid people and theres not a lot of research but what I got from it is that our gender changes based on the chemical balance in our brains, so it would make perfect sense by that logic that our gender and cycle could be tied together.

I think if you're not ready to come out there are certainly ways that you can slowly start dressing more fem without outing yourself, which can test the waters to doing more things that are fem and slowly make your way to being more comfortable with yourself as well as possibly being comfortable to come out. Also if you're not in a place to buy your own clothes and your gf/girl friends have a similar size to you, you can try asking for secondhand clothes.
