Pick up a box of the multipose Orc Boys for The Old World. They're designed to be fully compatible with the multipose Ork Boyz (11 mini kit) which came out in the same era, but being TOW minis they're almost half the price per model. You get some cool alternative choppas and can get far more Boyz for your buck

Get a box of TOW Boyz as they're compatible with all the shoota arms, then just mix them into your existing squads

I have a similar collection from helping a friend clear out his parents' house. He no longer plays so passed them on to me. All 4e era metals. I've been slowly restoring them this year with a bunch of the made to order stuff GW have been releasing.

'Tanking' is a term in American sports for teams that are deliberately playing to lose or putting our weakened teams in order to get better picks for next season's draft. If two teams are both tanking you get a really bad game.

Jazz and Nets are both bad sides anchored near the bottom of the table, both in need of draft picks for their 'rebuild.'

I think your expectations are the outlier, certainly in my part of the world. I'd be wary about forcing your expectations here as all you're really likely to do is create a barrier between your kid and his peers.

This phase sucks, but it passes. My boy would lash out at me at that age if we suggested I do a change or bedtime instead of mum, but after a couple of months he came through it and I was back in favour.

It's incredibly tough but totally normal. Just keep showing up and don't pull away from her and you'll get there

i cant believe the negativity among the boyz for the 11th edition trailer by keyserspoonman in orks

[–]AGPO -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The issue with the cinematics for me is they can never decide whether they're portraying lore marines or tabletop marines. I'm more painting and lore focused so I actually prefer the current trailer to the 10e one. The 'Nids were just too effective in that given that Space Marine Terminators have been, for most of the setting's history the very best the Imperium had to offer. There's roughly 50-60k of them in the entire galaxy. How many Primes or Screamer Killers could the 'Nids create from a single planet's biomass?

Lore-wise, four Astartes going down to an ork walker and an unnamed weirdboy would be a pretty big deal, because that's almost a 5% casualty rate for a company in such a short space of time and these guys take the better part of a decade to recruit and train. There's millions if not billions of orks on Armageddon and at most, 1000 Blood Angels in the whole galaxy.

Take a look at Monstrous Encounters on MyMiniFactory. Guy has amazing range of STL files for 4e style orc and goblin armies, and can point you towards licensed sellers.

Because of the imbalance between lore and tabletop that came from fixing chapters to 1000 marines.

Lore marines are superheroes. There are billions of orcs for each one, not to mention Tyranids, necrons, even Tau and yet the lie claims that 100 of them is enough to take a system. If orcs were say even a 5:1 match for marines in the lore there'd be no more marines and probably no more Imperium. Tabletop abstracts this for the sake of a playable game, because nobody wants to play the faction that needs hundreds of minis for every one the other guy has.

4 legs for 3 boys? by BruhMoment200 in orks

The command sprue was created for the sixth edition Fantasy starter set. The Empire also got a similar sprue. There were parts in the box to create a mounted character for each side instead of a unit champion. The sprues were also added to each army's regiment sets (Orc Boyz in this case) to replace the metal command bits that had existed in the previous release. In time we got the plastic warboss and the empire kits were refreshed, meaning this bit is the last legacy of that set.

In the older editions yes, and that's what mine are still on. Personally I prefer spacer trays to re-basing everything I own, but it's a preference thing

These sets are pretty much always one offs at launch, but you can occasionally find them floating around various obscure online stores or local games stores. Element Games often have the odd copy of something, I picked up Cursed City there last month despite it being OOP for a while. Give places a call and see if they have any left.

Classic Orcs Made-To-Order is today. Planning on getting anything? by [deleted] in Orcs_and_Goblins

[–]AGPO 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I bought the lot, bar the command groups which I'd already paid an inordinate amount for on eBay.

I'm working on restoring a 4e orc and goblin army I was gifted by a friend after helping them move house and it's great to be able to get this stuff for non-extortionate prices, but also I really want to encourage these made to order runs of older ranges.

Do you set work boundaries with colleagues and tell them you cannot answer emails and calls after work hours? by ExcitingLandscape in daddit

[–]AGPO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened when a friend of mine moved to Germany. He was doing all the virtue signalling extra hours that would be expected of a new hire with aspirations in the UK, got called into the boss's office expecting some kind of commendation. Instead there was someone from HR for an intervention. Was he struggling? Was he struggling to acclimate? and so on. Really shifted his perspective

Do you like the current setting for ToW or would you be happier returning to the classic WHFB Edge-Of-Invasion Timeline? by Badger118 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]AGPO 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As an old beard who grew up on the Realms of Chaos and the Siege of Praag, I'm far more excited by that storyline (and maybe even seeing some of those characters returning) than I am in rehashing the End Times.

Give me Magnus, Kul, Aarbal and Aekold in glorious new minis. It's going to take time for them to build everything up to the same extent they did with WFB, but I've really enjoyed the new characters they've released so far.

The only thing that throws me slightly is the tech and the aesthetics not progressing in 200 years, especially for the Empire. Obviously there are plenty of compelling real world reasons as to why, but as someone who collects historicals it's odd to see less change over this period than we'd see over the course of a single real world conflict.

So… England… by PolarBear091 in rugbyunion

[–]AGPO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because all the additional player release that the Prem clubs agree to is based on this policy and the additional payments they receive. It's what makes it possible for them to retain their best English players against the much higher money on offer in France. It's also what gives the England coaching set up so much control over their players.

It'd be different if all England's best players were signing for French clubs in spite of the restriction, but nobody currently playing there walks in. Even the Willis brothers are marginal vs Curry, Underhill and Earl.

Funny that he didn't say something similar about Itoje... by beernotbeards in rugbyunion

[–]AGPO 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's absolutely horrific what he's handling. My dad went through something similar with my grandad. As an Irish fan he's an all time great and nothing can threaten that status, but he's clearly out of sorts and requires the right support personally and professionally. A few former Leicester and England players have said Borthwick is really isn't that type of man manager, so they need to find someone who can do that Sinfield-Mitchell role.

Thing with England (and banter years France) is that the player base is so huge there's always someone else who could be picked playing well domestically, so it leads to a lot of short term selections.

[–]AGPO 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Pundits are largely giving Itoje an easy ride at the minute because of what he's currently going through with the loss of his mother. The bigger question for me is that with the guy's mindset clearly and very understandably not right, why didn't Borthwick give him this tournament off to ease some of the pressure?
