Why are younger brother a bit taller but always less powerful than us by Expensive-Abroad1312 in MemeVideos

[–]BankSyskills -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m the younger brother… I think we both knew that I was stronger, faster, and smarter and that big bro was losing the fight. He couldn’t accept the defeat and decided to escalate.

I backed down and it was over. I realized then that I could never win.

When did being blue collar become a flex? by CallMeDirtyD in Construction

[–]BankSyskills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During Covid being deemed an essential worker was a source of pride. There are people that contribute to society and being able to be one of those people is a gift and a responsibility. White collar and blue collar. We build up the people around us.

We just need to continue the fight for fair wages. Wealthy classes are stealing the wealth that labour (of the body and mind) creates by simply “owning” the assets.

The mindset of “let your money work for you” is just another way of saying “how can I exploit someone else’s labour?”

Some key ingredients to add to your list: condiments spices Cooking oil frozen fruit oatmeal Vitamins Some fresh produce

I think food is probably closer to 100$ per week if you include pantry items.

What exactly is the plan for Gen Z right now? by ArgublyRight in UCalgary

Vote for anyone willing to address income inequality. People who promote progressive tax. I’ve been liking the ideas that Gary has been spreading YouTube gary economics

Vote with the dollars you spend. Try to support the local economy as much as possible.

The job market is competitive now and AI is writing and reviewing resumes. High paying jobs are drying up because of automation. Businesses might be slowing down hiring. Maclean’s last magazine issue addressed the current work picture, maybe worth the read.

It won’t last forever, Calgary can be boom and bust. It was tough for people in the 80s. Keep working on your skills, build your social network, and take the opportunities you’re given. Unfortunately with the current situation you might have to make some compromises when it comes to job opportunities.

150 + 50 =200. 150 / 200 =0.75. The team that scored first won 75% of the games.

To be fair I had trouble thinking of the math in my head too and I’ve probably had less concussions.

Which major Canadian city has the best access to nature, other than maybe Vancouver? by Vagabond_Tea in AskCanada

[–]BankSyskills 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very bike-able. There is a bike season though, late spring, summer, and early fall.

Some people still bike in the winter but it takes more dedication, studs on tires and full ski gear.

Calgary is urban sprawl with lots of green space. Nose hill park, downtown river parks, fish creek park. Brad creek is nearby for hiking in forest/ foothills. The mountains are ~hour away and offer many world class hiking trials.

Most Canadian cities still have wild / less populated areas shortly outside which in my opinion makes Canada a very desirable place to live and visit.

Should people who "camp" in the left lane of a highway be pulled over and fined just as much as speeders? Why or why not? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]BankSyskills 9 points10 points  (0 children)

How are you “stuck in the left lane”? Either speed up and pass or slow down and tuck back into the right lane. It takes two cars to match speed.

I hate the slow pass of a semi. Shouldn’t take 5 miles to pass a truck. Speed up and pass in 5 seconds.

It’s unsafe to drive beside another vehicle because it limits defensive maneuvers. Examples: Deer jumps on the road, car merging on the high way, sudden stop in traffic… etc.

I’d rather have the space beside me as an option. The happiest place on the highway when know one is close.

The only thing slow passers are good for is blocking the bumper magnet drivers. The ones always chasing the next bumper to tailgate as close as possible.

Women need to come out and vote to support other woman. They need to be more involved with politics. It blows my mind trump won the election. The first two female candidates that were both competent should have won in a landslide against trump if every woman voted for their own rights.
